I have recently started a new project, Union Pacific's Bailey Yard. This first edition of this route is set around September 2012 (when the old wooden ties were being replaced with concrete ties) and the later releases will be for different era's (IE more modern, early beginnings, etc). So, without further ado I give you the first progress screenies!

Update:
Finished all track to the west of Sutherland, NE.

Planned for tomorrow:
All track to east end of North Platte, NE.
 
Finished all tracks west of Hershey, NE. Currently working east.

Also, can anyone resking a high hood GP10 to this scheme for me?

I think it's slightly pointless "drawing" TIGER lines. If not using a DEM, just do the rough alignments using track and road splines. Reason being you're going to have to paint over those solid colors with ballast later, and often some spots will be left out (it's very hard to precisely paint over textures). And yea Cascade is right, there are too many unneccesary spline points. I like how you used wooden ties for the turnouts, that's something alot of lazy route builders glaze over.
 
Yes, but on lines that have started to use CWR and concrete ties, most of the time turnouts still retain their wooden ties (so they don't have to be torn out and replaced). http://youtu.be/uu1p_DnQRsA?t=30m44s <- watch the next 5 seconds

I feel alot of route builders overlook or ignore this in their trackwork. Of course, this is not referring to lines like that NEC that use turnouts on concrete ties as well.
 
@nicky9499 This is an actual DEM of the area surrounding North Platte for 20 miles in each direction, and I am trying to model it as it was in 2012 when most of the line was being updated with concrete ties, in September 2012 the only part with concrete switches was a crossover on the north branch of the wye.

@cascaderailroad I know most railroads still use wooden ties, but the UP is slowly transitioning to concrete and composite ties, concrete in the north, composite in the south.

Ah, my bad. Didn't look very DEM-ish to me. Anyhoo, just straighten your tracks out that's all, the rest is looking like a good start. Just a little advice since you're modeling after real world. Don't take it too seriously, it can burn you out and take all the fun out of it. If the real world has an overpass with 4 pillars and you only find a good-looking one with 3, just roll with it.

Hint: I'd also upgrade all the boards to 5m grid now before any further work is done.
 
The overpass was an example. The point is, it is impossible to build true to life and you should roll with whatever you can find.
Right click the add baseboard button under Terrain menu, then left click any existing board. You have to do this for every board and textures will stick to their original 10m grids (hence why I said do it before progressing further).

Trackwork is slightly better. Avoid having splines in the middle of a curve like this. The correct way to lay track under normal situation is [-----straightened-----]{-----curve-----}[-----straightened-----].

When I mentioned the concrete/wooden sleepers issue, this was precisely what I meant. Avoid that. Take a look at the video I posted (in fact you can watch the whole thing, it's a pretty nice ride on one of the UP lines out of LA).
 
If you can't find a bridge like that I can make it for you. Just takes a few photos and basic dimensions.
