Uninstall Trainz 2012 but save my maps?

Two options:
1: Lookup where you installed Trainz and make a complete backup of your "UserData" folder
Advantage:
After your re-install you can simply go to Content Manager and say "import all data from that folder"
Disadvantage:
Takes a LOT of time as it will copy each and every file and folder; can easily take many hours.
Side effect:
Will copy everything, so not only routes (they are called routes, not maps)
2: Go to Content Manager, set a filter on routes and make archives of all routes you would like to back-up.
Advantage:
Only back-uping what you like to backup, so saving a lot of time and space
Disadvantage:
More manual work.
You have to save larger route to separate archives to avoid problems when re-installing (game not accepting to large archives)
No guarantee on any of these methods to work.
To be on the safe side I would strongly suggest you to first do a fresh install, then get all the material from one install to the other and as last step bluntly delete the old install.
