UK Skirted Full Barrier level crossing

I am trying to insert Bloodnok's UK Skirted Full Barrier level crossing into a layout. However there is no track running through the level crossing and when I try and attach track to the track spline points, trainz shuts down. I tried simply laying track through the crossing but of course the barriers don't come down because there is no message getting to the traffic that a train is approaching. I am obviously missing something here. Anyone know how I attach the track so that it works as intended!!??
