UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Your right WEN the 502 looks better with each screenshot. The shading on the left looks best. The coach shading on the right looks to clean, the 502's never looked clean, (except for a few days ex works)

It's difficult to tell from one shot which is better, possibly the one on the right (there is less shine on the underframe). I assume that it's a test colour rather than BR blue. Are you using m.tbumpenv? If so, you will need to experiment with the apha channels of both the diffuse and normal maps to find the best setting. Pure black in the alpha channel of the diffuse map will give a matt finish, whereas even a very dark grey will give a gloss effect that actually reflects the Trainz sky. A white alpha channel is full reflection, which is striking to say the least...

Its as close as I can get to BR, I am not sure of the exact colouring, but I think it needs to be a lot darker for post 1970 repaints. I think some of them however, appeared lighter. I did get to the source of the problem, I used 2 different glossiness values for the bodies, the DMBS (left) has a value of 20, the DTC (right) has a value of 10, which made it look a lot flatter.

As for the textures, I've used a noise layer and a "motion blur" layer to simulate brush strokes, you know, the strokes that you see in paintwork up close. Just for bump mapping, the same techniques don't seem to work, unless I try a dissolve layer with a few dimples with quite a lot of the colour taken out (which tends to end up with the dimples appearing too deep)

Thanks tmz06003.

I'm open to suggestions- I know that the earlier model sounds terrible, so I would really appreciate any ideas on more realistic engine and horn sounds.

Hopefully it wont be too long before the full 105 unit is back operational, I understand the guys had one of the engines running up a few months ago.

I have to agree with Paul502, I like the one the left more, the colours give off more of a curve towards the bottom of the coach, I do find the blue colour a bit bright, but otherwise the coaches look superb.

Keep up the great work WEN, always love your superb content.

@nexusdj- the gear lever moves, but doesn't work yet (are there any script experts out there that know how to do this?)

@WEN
I agree with paul502s' comments. Excellent work so far!

Rob.

Thanks Rob,

I've just found this link, showing Clan Line arriving at Swanage.

I'm not sure I'll manage to model it that far down though, I'm still working a little at a time on the Corfe Castle area.

Cheers

Hey Scottish, search the DLS under user johnwhelan for the China Clay wagons.

Echoing Scottish's comments, andytee your route looks rather interesting, will it be available for download at some stage?

Regards

Thank you.

-Scottish, Gam's spot on, they are indeed China Clay by John Whelan. There are 5 different liveries too. (How I like to remember them, with a 'Western' up front).
-Gam, I very much doubt it, I never seem to get round to finishing them.....:o
Cheers
A.
