UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

"TMZ" those look very useful indeed, especially the plate girder with the Hazard Wasp Stripes.Another type of content I have recently "discovered" is the FMA range. I"ve waded through all 475 items and some of them (particularly the bridges and the full skirted barrier crossings) are a cut above, and I am already working out how I can use them.PS I found some girder bridges by a German guy awhile back but lost them during a PC crash. They were stunning work albeit rather grand for my area, but I think I will try to find them again.Good work TMZ...

Nice shot Lewisner & nice 142 JB looking forward to taking it for a bounce in Rail simulator :D

Nice job on that station building Dave, have to save it's not my kind style though.:hehe:

Sorry folks, I've taken good lot of screenshots lately, but I haven't uploaded them, but you can view them on my website though, featuring York Road Station, Belfast.
Keep up the great screens everyone.:)

Cheers for the comments- I've loaded the 'bridge kit sides' pack on the DLS today, it should be available later this week.

I'll load the embankment kit separately once it's ready.

What do you currently use for the bridge deck- I use Mike10's viaduct spacer?

Regards,

tmz06003.

"TMZ" I always use "Wooden Crossing Boards" spline because in real life plate girder bridges rarely have ballst on them - the weight of the ballast is a terrific strain on the bridge and causes all kinds of problems with water retention and corrosion. This bridge at Penshaw was the most challenging job on my layout. The original bridge had plate girders supported on dressed sandstone abutments. In the centre the was a pier supporting and additional double track span over the NCB lines. The pier had subsided and was strapped up with rails so I had to wrap Single Rails Rusty round it then use Elevated Bridge Support for the vertical members. Finally I built the NCB abutment from Brick Wall 25M, but this is not ideal because this was actually made of battered, sooty old bricks.

Very nice lewisner- here's my offering for most 'horrendously complex bridge'- maybe we should start a separate thread! (this bridge is ballasted in reality)-

I think the side splines would have been helpful for your overbridge, you must have used about 6 of the girders in that one, each separately raised and rotated?

Interesting choice for the deck there, I'll bear it in mind.

There are two separate concrete slab decks I've already loaded onto the DLS for my 'footbridge kit'- one with grey sides and one with green sides (kuid 283805). These match the 'lattice grid' traditional footbridge sides pack, and compudoc's specially modified 'stairs' range.

I tend to use the viaduct spacer as it is wide, so less parts are used, as in the above screenshot.

"TMZ" lol that must have been a hell of a job! Actually the Penshaw bridge only used four Plate Girders but it was touch and go.It makes it easier to adjust them by simply raising or lowering the ground level, but its still tricky. This bridge at Toward Road in Sunderland is a more common example of how I normally do it.I set the road to the right height ( in this case its on a slight uphill slope) then place the girders either side. Then I use "Stone Retaining Wall Dirty" and build the bridge box fashion. Finally I use SRD and reverse it using short sections to make the buttresses.

08385, the shed pilot, was sent out on a very slow rescue mission after 37413 failed, they limped back to the shed at 15mph where 37413's condition was assessed.

Good job a 141 just left the shed for the carriage sidings or else this wouldn't have been able to get in!

Thanks, I'll look into the retaining wall you mention also.

The bridge kit side splines have been accepted on the DLS, search under kuid 283805. Let me know what you think of them.

I'll get the one piece embankment ends completed soon.

"TMZ" unfortunately for the THIRD day I"m getting "Server Full" when I try to download anything but I"m sure they"ll be worth waiting for! I built this rough mockup of the Queen Alexandra Bridge in Sunderland a year ago.The QAB is a Rail Over Road twin deck structure which sadly was a waste of money for the railway company - it only carried trains for 14 years!Alas I built this on a test route which I lost in a Fatal Error, so all I have are a couple of screenies......

Yes, it's a real pain!

I've logged a fault with Auran re. the downloads, they were quick at actioning it last time.

That bridge looks amazing, what did you use for the trussed sides by the way?

Regards,

tmz06003

The trusses were by the German guy I mentioned earler, but I lost them in the sme glitch which wiped out the Route I had built it on.I know I gave the KUIDs for the trusses on the Nottinghamshire UK thread a long time ago so I may root it out and get them again when/if the DLS ever works again.....PS the supports for the span where the Rail and Road Decks diverge is "Elevated Railway Support"...

Here you are TMZ - the trusses are by "gerd" including the main one which is " bogenbr 2gf" "Quote" Heres an improved version of the viaduct.I looked in CMP for "gerd" and all his bridges are under "1gl" or "2gl".The box section girder is "2gl-Vorflutbr" and as before I"ve installed 2 and moved one to the left to make a Double Lattice, which looks pretty good I think...:p
