UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

...That's why I Imported that Class 800 (With permission) from the Sketchup warehouse, its a basic model with no interior but does the job...
I mean I hope I am plugging that gap slightly...
At least you're 'having a go' and not just bemoaning the lack of modern UK content! (I think this may be a bit off topic in this thread)

Rob.

I release my recent content under open-source "copyleft" license statements (Creative Commons, etc) and I publish the original source files of my projects on my site so others can freely modify, improve upon and potentially learn from them.
I’ve done the same with my Blender models after throwing in the towel - the Class 40, 45, 52, MK1 coach, LMS coach, and many wagons are up freely available for any creator to finish, freeware or payware. And I believe another diesel-era rolling stock creator has done the same.

Hopefully we’ll see these in game someday.

Hi All, I'm still about and currently working on my retro version of Mark's excellent route. I don't generally post on here, I like to keep it local, but hopefully in a few months max, I will have the route ready for testing

It's the 80's and the works shunter at the Blue Circle works in Plymstock heads up through the cutting with loaded Presflo wagons

Hi Everyone

I've been reading your recent conversations about the ECML.

I'm the main person behind the ECML. The rest of the team have moved away. This was completely due to issues with the Deltic Preservation Society and the cab simulator of 55008 with the ECML route. The DPS wanted the route builders to restore the cab even though they were not DPS members and had nothing to do with the DPS and not actually interested other than route building at home. Overnight building came to a complete stop. That was over ten years ago and has been myself mainly ever since.

The last few years I've had to get back on the property market by buying a rundown cottage needing to be rebuilt. The only way I could afford thanks to the ex wife. I'm now at a position to carry on with the ECML but sadly it's just myself. I will never wash my hands of the route so don't worry about that.

I have actually been working on the ECML quietly over the last few years. Kings Cross has St Pancras next door plus about a mile of route. The Peterborough area now has all the brickworks. The Newcastle area had about 3 months of content added last year and so I'm progressing. It will be up to N3V of course if they wish to upgrade the route.

I do speak to tmz06003 and actually have an update from him of Edinburgh with the docks added and the Southern bypass round the bottom of the city. A lot of work from me is still needed to finish it off.

There is a wonderful new Deltic with twin engine starts scripted by vovven47. Has other features too like roof fans starting once each engine have ran up. Wipers, doors etc. Field diverts at the appropriate speeds. There is presently an issue if there is more than one other locomotive in the game the Deltic exhaust smokes before pressing the engine start buttons. Also an issue of engine start sound volumes, changing the headcode and adding the different headbords to the nose doesn't work either. This has taken probably about 3 years to get this far and may never see the day of light with me not knowing anything about scripts or loco building. I'm in debt to vovven47 for such a difficult subject to script.

Pfx have you made sure your route joins up seamlessly with the ECML route as its a non brainier to me if you intend to release it for other users. A class 52 wow that seriously needs releasing.

There is a 99% possibility from next month of retiring early and working full time on the route. It's still going to take ages but seems like I'm constantly updateing the route but I'll get there.

The intention eventually is to get to Aberdeen and once I'm happy with the standard and accuracy make a modern version but that going to be years away. I'm also eager to produce sessions but so many things to do

Good to hear you're still working away. I'm not sure if my route will join with ECML but it's built using a TransDEM map. If ECML is the same, they should marry up.

Having been looking back over some parts of the western end, I've decided some areas were a bit inadequate, Eastfield being one of them. TRS22 allows for some better scenery to fill out the gaps.

The first image is the original, and the second is today with additional scenery, though not yet complete. I also changed the track and ground texture to something a bit better.

Indeed, Brandypatch and you are the only UK shots I could see.

I'm not counting them and have actually been helping with some of their beta testing in recent months, but the like of tmz06003, warbo, nexusdj, masontaylor, fudginator, greeni, and several others, all of whom were prolific in their UK output. I realise real life can often put the scud on things such as Trainz, it's just a shame to see them go.

I've noticed that the TS fanboys don't usually approve too much of the 'fantasy' routes that have been released and I certainly haven't bought any. I thought multiplayer surveyor would make it a lot easier to collaborate but it doesn't really as it is a bit limiting.
Yes, real life has intervened in my case, but in a really good way, consequently leaving me less time (and inclination) for asset creation.

I'm still dabbling, but the hoops one has to go through now to get a model into game looking the way it was envisaged can be brain scrambling to say the least. There are so many variables in PBR that it can take many hours to find the right combination of tweaks that achieve the look I'm after on just a single item: in the old days, spending the same time might have produced a whole slew of assets!

While I've made the transition to Blender very happily from a modelling point of view (I reckon I'm probably as fluent now as I used to be in GMax) I have yet to find the secret of getting anything into the current version of the game which satisfies me visually. All in all, despite Trainz's trumpeted visual advancements, I'm generally happier with my earlier efforts....

It's a frustrating conundrum.

Similar to last night's screenshots, this is the opposite end of Eastfield. I was unhappy with the vegetation in the triangle and the lack of scenery in the TMD.

I recently upgraded my CPU and mobo and I find performance is vastly improved, though I still need to upgrade the CPU cooler, the stock one not being up to the job of the uprated chip.

Excellent work. Your screenshots definitely capture the era.

Now that I seem to have got my route building mojo back, I've been filling out areas that were lost when the route became corrupted. Can't face Queen Street just yet but edging closer as I head south from Eastfield.

@pfx.....your attention to detail here is fantastic.
I know this area extremely well and i recognised the buildings straight away.
The 3 little Carron Place flats on one side and the 4 to a block cottages on the Parkhouse side with the high rise towers in the background (Springburn).
Excellent work.

Thanks hotgrove. A lot of it is 'kit bashing' as there are very few assets for the route. I'm happy to hear you recognise some of it. I'm originally from near Alloa but lived in both Edinburgh and Camelon and I'm very familiar with the route.

You're welcome.
I can see those little Carron Place flats and the Springburn high rises from my kitchen window.

Good to hear from you mason, you've been missed!
