UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Just one from me today.

A Class 159 roars through Farnborough (one of about 10 local stations!) with a service to Salisbury. Meanwhile a class 450 sits at Platform 2 bound for Windsor and Eton Riverside. I have been making my own South Western Mainline, which sees new branches to my town ,Yateley, and branches to Clapham Common. It also sees services serving stations they would never serve in real life e.g Farnborough would never be served by a train to W&E Riverside, only Waterloo.

Ha ha, thats because Southern are my one (and only) local operator. I mean, Fishbourne station is just a random patch of concrete in the middle of West Sussex... well, I can see it from my bedroom window in the winter, which is great. What do you expect? And you should see the refurb I started on the 502, I sort of went quite nuts.
I don't like the way you said 'nuts' knowing the things that you can make southern!

I meant I went nuts over refurbishing that. Its also got a whole lot worse as well, like urrmm, on my toughbook's HD (thats now failed) is one with refurbished seating, although I might even try chanigng the windows as well.

I'm certain at some point we'll end up with his "Pantograph Pacer" in Southern:hehe:

Haha looks good, I think Southern should stick a pantograph on them, and lease them to FCC

Better than the 377/5s at any rate. They just scream "built for £5.99 each".

I should do an FCC one next haha!

I was on one of those yesterday, my first 377/5 ever and I have to say, BORING!! NEXT! The driver did caine it though, so I was almost certain we hit 100mph on Quarry Line, which felt rather rough through Purley. I thought it would also be a smarter move to avoid VIC and go to LBG, either change at GTW or TBD. Not so. :(

They're rough going anywhere. I regularly travel from St Pancras Intl to Bedford and I have to say it's such a better journey on the 319s.

In my opinion, this is why 319s are better than 377s:

1. 319s feel more spacious
2. 319s have more comfortable seats (with more legroom and they don't creak if you sit on them)
3. 319s are far smoother over points etc. 377s feel like the axles are connected to the body by a lump of granite!
4. 377s accelerate like the axles are connected to the body by a lump of granite (seriously, out of St Albans, a 377 with me on it on the up fast was overtaken by a 319 on the all stations, . despite the 319 having left . 1 minute later), even more so in the wet.
5. 319s have an excuse to be lurchy - They're ancient. Yet they still manage to be smoother than 377s half the time
6. 319s make a better noise
7. "This train is the FCC service to Bedford, calling at West Hampstead Thameslink, St Albans, Harpenden, Luton Airport Pkwy..." gets really irritating after 3 stations
8. 319s don't break half so often as 377s. ("this is coach 9 of 4", interior doors jam all the time and whirrr, bang stop, "Electrostar"... This train is the FCC service to Brighton, calling at... whirrr, . bang stop, . "Electrostar"... This train is the FCC service to Brighton, calling at... etc are 3 things 377/5s seem to be very good at)
9. The only redeeming feature of the 377s is the air con (which last weekend produced breath crystals! But hey, I never get cold, so...)

7. "This is the southern service to Littlehampton, calling at Warblington, Emsworth, southbourne ...... Ford and Littlehampton. This is the southern service to littlehapton, calling at Warblington, ems...." "SHUT UP!!"

9. Which is always on, but also, never works in warmer weather.

Is there anyway to remove the front gangway from the 377 to make a 376?
Well, anyway, my re-skins. In order:
1. Original Connex
2. Southeastern
3. New Southeastern
4. Southeastern 'RTW'
5. Southeastern 375/8

7. "This is the southern service to Littlehampton, calling at Warblington, Emsworth, southbourne ...... Ford and Littlehampton. This is the southern service to littlehapton, calling at Warblington, ems...." "SHUT UP!!"

Haha I don't know why they cant just announce that at the first station, and then just have "This is the southern service to Littlehampton. The next station is Warblington"?

Back on topic though, it's only been done in about an hour, so it's a little rough:

This trian is the FCC service to Brighton, calling at Flitwick, Harlington, Leagrave, Luton.... <15 stations later> ..Hassocks and Brighton:hehe:

I know, the 375's round here are boring! The 395's are much better!

Actually the 375/3/6/7/8 are all fine, there not exactly boring in my opinion- but its the 375/9 that does me in with the commuter seating, and small corridor, likewise with the 465 and 466.
The Javelins are better i know, but there more modern, the 375 have been around longer than you think.

WEN, does that mean you had done the southern version of the 502 now? Looks really good on your screen shot btw :)

I have had the skin for a while, I've just never released it, although, I do think if they were refurbished in real life (assuming that they would of lasted that long, the A stock only just did 52 years, I saw that railtour yesterday as well), then it wouldn't be a repaint and call it refurbished like Silverlink did(!), but more of a proper job, like 2+2 seating. I wonder if they would of had gangways as well?
