UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Sorry, I'm new to all this license stuff. I'll get rid of the reskins.

No need to get rid just remember to check the license agreement before you reskin anything .

I'd let the first two slip as I know your a newbie but obviously the third was pushing it a bit .

The majority of content providers (including myself) don't usually bite , all you have to do is send a pm or email to the original author and ask . You'll find a bit of courtesy goes a long way .

I sure there will be others along in a bit from the church of "I can do what I want !!" to try and contradict what I've said though !;)

Scratchlight : You need permission to reskin someones else's work especially when the license agreement states that the content should not be reskinned .

I've counted at least 3 reskins of my work where you've not even asked !

No you don't, this has been a lengthy discussion, you don't need permission if it is for your own personal use. Screenshots on the other hand, are a little gray area in that retrospect, as you are and you are not redistributing the reskin. The key word is redistrubition (with intent), this is what breaks the copyright law.

Basically scratchlight, if it stays on your PC, fine, if it doesn't, ask.

Like I said in in my last post somebody from the church of "I can do what I want !!" would be along to try and contradict what I'd said !

WEN it's not your content so what gives you the right to over rule what it states in my license agreement .

It comments like that cause these problems in the first place !!

I could of gone down the route of having the offending pictures removed (it's not the first time!)
but I chose to point him the correct direction so he's a little wiser next time .
I've not even asked him to delete the content and I'm sure at some stage I could of helped him to get it released (mesh mods to suit etc).
but no you've had to drag up this old chestnut again for personal gain (You've been throwing little snide comments in my direction for weeks now on here , With other trainzers commenting about them in conversation) !

Sorry, what snide comments and more to the point, what does snide mean? I really do not understand. I apologize about causing offence by what I said, however, I do feel (and this is my personal opinion) you do take a harsher line about those using your content as a basis of a reskin, even if its not to be redistributed. Asking if its going to be released is fine. Yes, we should respect the EULA although mine doesn't have one because I believe in open content, which I need to sort really.

I know recently, I've been less clear about what I have been trying to ramble on about, this is the trouble with working late nights and I am not one that copes with them, nor the one that can easily adapt to them (due to a variety of mental health issues.). I do agree my reasoning is about as lumpy as a camshaft controlled unit at the moment as well, before you comment.

Now, I would be happy if you could point me in the right direction, however, on the other hand, would it be better to ask all my content to be pulled and leave the Trainz community? Considering that my content has been used as a basis for your content as well? To which I've never moaned, uttered, or mentioned a single word, but encouraged it?

If you want to discuss more, I can see this getting out of hand very quickly, but I would like you to continue in PM and not on here. Alternatively, feel free to use the report post button, I would have no problem with that, in fact, I am sure Zec would explain much better where I am going wrong and I would appreciate any detail on that.

EDIT: I was talking about the Copyright Law (Copyright, designs and paitents act of 1988) and the requirements of that: http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/uk_law_summary or for heavy reading: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/48/contents
EDIT2: Having search through British Trainz and here, none of my posts from the last month or longer don't directly relate to your content or refer to your content at all. Again, as above, please PM (you'd have to do it via email now) some evidence in my direction and I would really appreciate that.

Oh Gawd...I'm never reskinning again. :o :n:

No, reskin, but select certain authors. I have no issues with you re skinning my content at all. In fact, I like the Southern Class 455s you've produced. And don't worry about credit on my content, because I don't demand any credit to be passed, besides, its really too much hassle to reply to everyone, who wants permission to use my content as a basis, it also works in my favour, e.g. my work gets spread to a wider community and I get more recognition, etc.

Its not such a daft idea, although, it would be nice to go into employment like this, however, I can't see that happening.

I didn't produce them, I could never reskin as good as that :hehe:

Still, I support what you have done, the 477s, I quite like seeing them in different liveries, that's something.
I guess I am one of the few people thats not bothered about the content really, you can even ask me for the source and hell, I wouldn't have a problem, in fact, you can download the source files for some of my items and you can do whatever you like with it and I still wouldn't have a problem with it at all. Sell it, put all sorts of foul stuff on it, stick it in a magazine, claim its yours, etc. In the end, it helps both of us.

EDIT: I forgot to say, I know, I make mistakes, sometimes I don't know who's done what to my content, so apologies to any creator that feels they were mis-credited, it was not deliberate.
