UK Screenshots (Hi Res Version)

Belfast - York Road

Harcourt - I'm not sure what moves me most about your reconstruction of York Road, the skill and authentic feel of your work, or the sheer nostalgia of it. My most recent memory of the old York Road station was at the end of a trip in the cab of a MPD from Derry in 1957.

I am (very slowly) creating a route around the Ards Peninsula, in a bid to attract more tourism and reduce traffic congestion.:) It is powered by electricity generated by submerged turbines driven by the exceptional tidal currents in the Strangford Narrows. When there is something really worth showing, I'll post some screenshots. One day it may get through Newtownards and try to find its way into Belfast. It may be difficult to link up with NIR - a few things in the way! Perhaps I ought instead have been creating the route the businessmen in Portaferry were campaigning for in the late 1800s and build it with the open land then available.

Please keep up the good work. It is wonderful.

Peter

@ harcourt sadly no the GE route is on hold at the moment, the screenies that you are seeing is a smallish route that i knock up nothing fancy a simple
route. it should be finished in a week or two.

jay:)

Hi Peter,
Ah the MPDs,unfortunately before my time! But great units,a fact that no two MPDs were ever identical, been made from converted coaching stock!:D
Really 1957,that even before the time I've tried to set the era of the route. Must have been plenty of geeps and no doubt the NCC moguls too! Not even the diesel units had taken over the steam sheds back then!:p
I'm glad you're liking it,as there's very few people who really know what York Road was,I do hope you find it accurate enough. I've studied many photographs of it going back to the 40s,and have recreated the accurate trackwork of the early/mid 1960s.:D
I am actually only showing a tiny tiny section of the route, sure I have completed the line all the way as far as Portush and Coleraine, aswell as Downhill beach stratch, not to mention the Larne line! All of it I will show shortly,as I'm sure these York Rd shots are getting a bit gloomy!:D

That's an interesting railway your building, sure couldn't you use part of the old Belfast & County Down line through east Belfast, even Newtownards had a BCDR station, probably long gone...before they turn it into some bus route!:hehe: Then join it with NIR on the cross harbour link:D
Anyway, yup more screens of the NCC route to follow.:)

@kimmy,ah it's good that you're keeping the GE route though, even on hold,I often foolishly deleted routes I had no time for and then regreted it soon after! Anyway, looking forward to that new layout of yours. :)

Nice shot, Harcourt. That MN is certainly impressive. However, have you ever tried driving it in cab mode? The thing doesn't like going in reverse! In fact, it won't go backwards at all for me. At first I thought it was my RailDriver that was the problem, so I tried the keyboard controls. Same problem. I then used the reverser lever in the cab with the mouse and still the loco wouldn't budge.

Nice loco though.
Best wishes,
Padster

Haven't come across such a problem with the MN. I admit I seem to always place it in convenient spots were reversing is not neccessary, anyway I'll see if it works!:hehe: I didn't used the cab mode for those quick shots though,we'll have to see.:)
