Don't think this has been posted here, so here goes - the sole surviving BTH Class 15 has had her engine started for the first time in over 20 years by the heroes who are restoring her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJ3SK0RAyK8
Having said that, complete restoration is still a long way off for the survivor of 60 800 horsepower engines. All of the ten examples of Class 16 were scrapped in 1968 but the 15's made it to 1971 with four surviving another 20 years as mobile carriage heating units.

Total clag monster! They had a reputation for engine for engine fires but I guess (hopefully) the problem will be understood 40 years later and sorted out, as were the problems with Duke Of Gloucester when she was restored.

This restoration job is being done properly(it's not going to self combust on its first trip) the engine is new, the generators have been fully overhauled and refurbished. For more news on the 15s restoration and D5705(Co-Bo) check here http://www.d8233.org.uk/ Work on D8233 has slowed to get D5705 up to pace with the 15.

Nice video, look at all of that smoke! :udrool: (Oh if you want to see the start up directly skip to 2:30) i always like the British locomotives, not in Trainz to much. (because you don't get to see to much of that wonderful smoke:udrool:) lissin to me rambling on....:hehe: DR:wave:

You say it's a new engine? Where did they get it from?

I can't remember where it came from off the top of my head, but it is defiantly a new one due to the original being completely knackered.
