Many people knew about the restoration of AT&SF 3751 and all the excursions to come from that restoration. But some don't know about what is soon to return to steam again.

AT&SF 5000 (Madame Queen)- First of the 5000 class 2-10-4's and the prototype engine for AT&SF's 5000's, is being restored for excursion service by the Railroad Artifact Preservation Society or RAPS for short. Last year the restoration team had ultrasonic testing done to the firebox to see if the Queen was good to steam again. After several months of anticipation, the mechanical engineer reviewing the numbers said 5000 is in good condition and ready to go for full restoration.

Whoa....................I knew the 5000 was slated for restoration but one of the 2900 Class 4-8-4s is going to be restored as well?!?!? Alright!!! Long live the ATSF!!!!

Hmm. I knew that 2926 was being restored, but I was never aware that 5000 was. When the time comes, it sure will be something to see.

last time i heard plans for excursions were on the back burner but last i heard was 5000 was to do a Texas only excursion, as for 2926 no excursion info yet.
