Turntables

Hi, I'm a Newbe but I'm still having lots of fun. I need advice on about a thousand things. I;m in surveyor trying to make a route that uses a turntable. Can the turntable be operated by the train AI?? How. If anyone can help it would be great. Thanx

Hi fargo,

I am not a Mac user but can tell you how it works on a PC. First you need to install two commands, 'move turntable' and 'input table' next in surveyor name your turntable, I use a depot name such as 'Vancouver Turntable' Check how many stops your turntable has, this is best done by looking in the config file and counting the number of angles given, say it has 12 stops. Then program the input table as follows :-
turntable,Vancouver Turntable,12 NOTE the first word must be all lowercase, the turntable name must be typed exactly as the name is i.e. if you have upper case in the turntable name use the uppercase letters in the input table then the last entry the number of stops 12.
Use the commas between each entry and no spaces.
In surveyor place a trackmark near the entrance to the turntable, name it say 'VC Turntable Approach' and give it a radius of about 1 metre.
Place another trackmark at the opposite side of the turntable and name it 'VC Turntable' give this one a radius of app 6 metres, this will depend on the length of the loco you are turning.
In driver your commands will be :- navigate to trackmark 'VC turntable Approach' 'stop train' 'wait for 5 seconds' 'navigate to trackmark VC Turntable' 'Stop Train' 'wait for 5 seconds' 'move turntable' select VC Turntable to stop xx.
If you can't get this to work drop me a PM and I will try to sort it out.

Cheers,

Hi Fargo,

You need to click on the question-mark to get the properties of the turntable. You should then be able to enter in the information needed.

The command/rule are in the edit session from the drop down menu top left. Look at driver commands and tick the ones you ant to use in a session. Select add to find the rule (input table) and click yes to add it.

I think he's asking *How do I install cdp's*

I could be wrong but that's what his question looks like to me.

Cheers.

Hi John. I've looked in the properties and at the script editor. I can't see a place to enter commands in either.
i'm using AJS turntable. Should I be looking for an other one? Fargo

I don't appear to have a move turntable command in driver commands. I tried clicking edit to see if there was one to activate but nothing there. There is a Wait until time rule but I think it is a 2006 rule and it will not activate. Does any body know of an alternate command.?

Hi Fargo,

I'm not that familiar with the turntables myself as I hardly use them! I just went by experience with scenery-type interactive track objects such as the turntable. AJS' turntable may have all the stuff built into it so you don't need to add command links.

The list of driver commands is found in the session. You will need to view the list of driver commands that you can add, and check the box next to the item(s) you want to enable them. I can't explain this well, but I'm sure others can. I'm also not at my Trainz'ing PC so I don't have access to the menus and stuff to help verbalize the commands.

Sorry I can't help much more than this.

Do you have access to the Download Station? That is where you find the needed commands: 'MoveTurntable', made by Vandragorax <kuid2:609850:100018:1>, and 'InputTable', made by atilabarut, <kuid:131986:1012>. Note: the Download Station is also called [the] 'DLS' and [the] 'Black Pages'.

Hi. I'm back. Thanks for the tip. I've grabbed the new MoveTurntable, and I already had InputTable. When I set the turntable just right I can get the Bobo to move onto it. I've done it twice. Then a little red lady bug shows up on the bottom right hand corner, flashes a couple of times and tells me that something is buggy. Don't know if it's me or ?????? I'll keep fooling around with it. Thanks again. Fargo

The bug indicates a script issue, just as it indicates a "bug".

Click on the bug and it should give you some information which you can the post here for help. I'm neither a programmer nor scripting expert and can't help you beyond this tip.

Thanx everyone for all the help. I have a turntable up and working. Want to know how I did it?? I threw out the version of trainz (trainz 2) that I bought at the "app store" and bought a copy from "sim central" (trainz for mac). Trainz for mac seems toy me to be much less buggy, doesn't seem to stutter as much, and hasn't crashed yet. Trainz 2 is build no. 64072 and trainz mac is 48159. Maybe all the content is not yet playing well with this version. I will wait for an update. I believe trainz mac is a much closer port to trainz 12. Next I think that'll open a new thread for signals but I'll look around the forum a bit first to see if there is already some info. Fargo
