TS2012 - no thank you

I own TS2006, TS2009 and TS2010. I regret having bought 2010 and won't be buying 2012. Half the locos that were in 2009 are not available in 2010 and 2012 probably still hasn't got any further with including other countries.

I wrote to Auran when I bought 2010 and asked if they could create the South African 6E1 locos to work in 2010 and never heard from them (probably because they already had my money).

Don't get me wrong, I think Trainz is one of the best simulators out there, but I don't want to drive UK trains or American trains. I want South African trains. Now if they could include South Africa in 2006 and 2009, why did they suddenly drop them in 2010?

In addition, 2010 has given me lots of trouble. Surveyor freezes after a 20 minutes and if I don't save every few seconds, I lose all my work. And two days ago, I tried to update my game with the latest patches to see if I could resolve the surveyor issues and I lost my entire game. I had to re-install and lost all the content I downloaded from the download station. I have a 1st class ticket and have to start all over again and recreate the routes I spent hours and hours working on.

I'm really not impressed with 2010 and after having checked out 2012, it doesn't look any better.

Very disappointing guys, very disappointing indeed.

You're not alone, man. I'm also not getting Trainz12. It's bad enough, that I have Trainz10. I'm just happy with Trainz09.

Um, well first, including EVERY asset included with prior games will bloat the sim. I personally don't mind it, but others may. As Auran/N3V really isn't using the extra included routes and locos as a selling point, you have no reason to Assume that they'd include your favorite content from version to version. 2. had you done any homework, you'd know that there is an asset repair program underway. Sorry that we're operating too slow for your liking but we're too busy spending the amazing $0.00 per hour that we make. Perhaps you could help? 3. if you had done any homework, like asking on the forums, you'd have found that your routes and assets may have been recoverable with a simple EDR.

Edit: One thing I like about TS12 over TS2010 is that TS12 is much more stable; I get frequent crashes too in 10, but crashes are usually the result of some faulty (but apparently working) content.

I bet even I would like TS12 ... I will have TS10 as soon as it is delivered.

I am going to install TS10 on a 3Tb External Hard Drive, and see how it runs.

Creating a route in TRS2006 and transferring it into TS10 or TS12 is my planning right now.

I will have a huge learning curve ... but I am sure both 10, 12 versions are super.

probably still hasn't got any further with including other countries.

America, UK, Europe and Australia are N3V's main areas of selling, and N3V is a business, so they want/need money. It's called Capitalism.

Auran create Software, not the assets, and most assets included in Trainz Versions are 3rd party assets. eg. other people, so asking Auran to fix something that they dont have the rights too (well they do now) is kind of pointless

Demand, or lack of it, size of the game, and the fact is that the assets are now quite old and quite outdated.

Always backup your local folder, and any routes you are building. Perhaps something happens that isn't Trainz fault, and you end up losing your content or your routes or your entire PC. If you haven't backed up your content then who shall you hold accountable then?

I understand you are frustrated, and maybe this post was a cry for help, but if not then thanks for letting us know your choice not to buy 12. I'll print it out and file it with the others...;)

my big pet peve is people are making these AMAZING routes and they are only making them for ts12 and they wont work for ts09 and im comfortably running 2009 and 2010 wont even work right for me

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression all the default content from TS2009 was rolled over into TS2010? It's TS2010 to TS12 where they took the stuff out but it can be re-acquired via the DLS.

There definitely is some great stuff being released for TS12. Msgsapper's routes come to mind and there is a whole lot more great stuff.

I'm even working on my own route (my first). For TS12 of course.

I haven't had any of the problems encountered with 2010.

If your a fan of the Trainz franchise then TS12 really is a no-brainer in my opinion.

I got ts12 and i enjoyed it untill i found out that there is no compatively mode resulting in a lot of good content i wanted to have on ts12 won't work. If the content is faulty it doesn't work, and it was relly good content. I'm tired of having to fix every little problem in content i download and then loosing time to play the game. I hope Auran fixes the problem and makes a better trainz simulator.

Trying to live up to your nickname?:D Just kidding.
Auran has already made a better Trainz simulator, and it is 12. The content is made by the members and is slowly being released for use by 12. If you want to use content made for earlier versions of the sim, then that's on you.
I mean no offense to you, but if you're going to blame anyone for lack of usable content, then please blame the content creators, not the software creator.:D

Thats not Auran's fault a majority of content has always been faulty, you have just been able to use it. And if the content was so good, then it would be worth the effect to fix it. TS12 is by far the best Trainz to date. And if you have 10 and 09 you can copy over the .ja files and have all your content loaded into TS12.

I have the 6E1 <kuid:-1:100023> in blue and red on my system, plus I recommend the route 'Kwa Zulu Preservation Railways'

TS12 is the best of all Trainz, i only wish it would take advantage of multi quad CPU's and dual GPU's, and by the way ATI video cards like the 6970 handle Trainz the best it kills the GTX 580.
Can't wait to get my hands on an overclocked Gigabyte tripple fan ATI 7970
