TS12 vs. PC Rail Sim "Powered by TS12"

I apologize if this has been asked and answered, but I haven't found the answer to this question in the forums nor anywhere else online... besides the 'name-brand' Trainz Simulator 12, I also see available a product branded as "PC Railroad Simulator... Powered by Trainz Simulator 12."

PCRS seems to have almost identical packaging as the "real" TS12, and the descriptions of both products don't give me much of a clue to any major differences, except that PCRS is available from Amazon and Wal-Mart for less than half the price of the "real" TS12.

Is there any difference at all? Does the version branded as PCRS lack features or capabilities found in the "real" TS12?

Amazon say s that the game is one of Just trains but I have never heard of this one before but they have done many cut down versions in the past.

Questions been asked and answered a few time now, It's just local repackaging by whatever retailer is selling it for whatever country they are in, same as they do for many any other games.

I believe the Just Trainz version requires different patches, which may or may not exist yet. I'm rather wary about buying from Amazon because they require you to use the cryptic AmazonGSdownloader but don't tell you that fact upfront, nor what it does.

There's a good, reliable fella here by the name of Euphod (Ed) who, I believe, bought TS2010 off of Amazon with no problems, but that wasn't the JT version, and it was a completely different version. Weigh this advice as to whether or not it's worth buying that version versus straight from Auran. Just don't buy from Steam.

Close, I actually bought 2010 from an E Bay retailer, and was quite happy with the purchase. 12 I bought from Auran.

I take it you bought physical media? When I bought the Blue Comet last year, Amazon was quite explicit (only AFTER the purchase) that digital downloads required the AmazonGSDownloader which they never said nor hinted anything about.

For the benefit of those who may ask, it was only after I complained and used those magic words that the purchase was "breach of contract" and was "not what I ordered" that they violated their own, seemingly no-exceptions refund policy, and hurriedly issued a refund, saying "we never do this, but in your case..."

Yes, physical media for both versions. Now, the add on I bought I don't rightly remember, but it's safe to assume it was from Amazon. I suppose then, I used their downloading software. I further suppose then, that it caused no problems.

Not if TRS2004 is to go by, I have the Just Trainz version of 04 & patched it up to SP4 using the Auran patches.

It's only the Steam version that needs different patches, due to Steam altering the game code in their version. :)
