TS12 Problem

Hi Everyone,
I seem to be having a bit of a problem with TS12 and that is certain content will show up in the surveyor when I first place them on the track but then when I go to drive them in driver mode they disappear and then when I go back to surveyor mode there are still not there meaning that if I have laid down a certain piece of track then I have to complete delete the whole section of land and it is really annoying.
If anyone has had this problem before and knows how to fix it or just knows how to fix it that would be much appreciated.

One or two possibities spring to mind. Either the dreaded layers or the content itself. Firstly just a gentle reminder to everyone with Vista or Win 7 to start the game in "Run as Adminisrator" mode. If it is a layers issue you should remove all rolling stock (everything in locomotive tab) and merge the route and session. Ideally all additions and changes to a route should be done in route except for the session rules (drivers, schedule library etc!) and the locomotive tab content which should be done in sessions. I,m not saying you can,t place a locomotive in route for testing it,s just good practice to hopefully avoid errors. Also a lot of people dit a route via "session" but again I think it is good practice to go into route directly to avoid a careless click on "edit session" Anyway, you should also go into content manager and check your disappearing assets for faults (red cross)

I'm sure it's the layers

I had that very same problem... I am fairly confident that it is the layers... I had that very same thing happen when I first used TRS 12 and began making layouts on that... I don't use layers... personally I don't like them, and TRS would be much better without them. I just go straight and do my layout, use only the main layer... put the consists on and not use them at all.... Layers are really only good if you want to have, ground texture, then ballast, then your buildings, then your trees, and your trains all in seperate layers... but layers really only came from the graphic design idea like in Adobe Photoshop etc, where you had layers, masks, and all that photographic stuff, but I would be one that has got better and more important things to do in getting a layout done, than to fiddle around with layers... I had that same experience and wondered where on earth all my trees were, all I had was the ground texture, and where on earth are my trains?... Oh There they are!... "No I don't like this, go back the way I have always done layouts, forget the layers, and I have't had any trouble since"... so now I never use them... frankly they're a waste of time... Another problem I had, was that the trains if they were there would not run unless I merged the layers...

When I had done that, everything was alright... so from that time on, I just dispensed with the layers idea and did it the way I have done in the past...

Layers, I think is just a gimmick that has been tried in TRS, but I hope that Auran will see the folly in this idea and delete it from future versions of trainz, like the Aircraft idea in the DLS, mentioned in another thread... if they're only there for static scenery, it is no point in having them, or the yellow invisible line that you are supposed to lay, and I couldn't even get a plane on there to start with, let alone getting it to fly....

I would have liked to have a few fokkers or airbus's flying around.

Remember that eagle, (Listed in the DLS as 'Adler' that you could place on your layout and have this eagle flying around?... I would have thought that the aircraft were supposed to be as easy to just put on your layout and have it flying around like that eagle, but I have given up trying to get these planes on there...and just went back to concentrating on layouts with trains....

I'm having trouble with pretty much all of the jointed rail content, the odd thing is though it is only the jointed rail content that isn't working the rest are fine

Looking for one example so I can try to duplicate the problem. Post one example, name and KUID number, that always has that problem.
