TS12 - Create waybills & schedules

Newbie to TS12

How do I create waybills for the consists in my Session? Can't seem to locate how to do it in Surveyor. Similarly, how do I create a schedule for my Session. I have a bunch of HO guys in my group that I'd like to bring into TS, so I've duplicated the route in TS12 and would like to introduce them to TS by running a typical train from the HO layout.

If you are used to typical car cards and waybills used by many model railroaders, You will find the built-in "Waybills" nothing like you are used to. If you want something that works like traditional waybills, check out CMTM. There are several routes and sessions that use it. Switching Grogan Loop,<kuid2:32711:100108:2> for Downtown Traction Company route is a good introduction.

Single Player Version 3 is about to be released. It uses reporting marks and car numbers to define the cars. It also automatically tracks loading/unloading and reports which cars are ready for pick-up. You do not need to mess with setting up interactive industries. All you need is a track mark to define an industry or car destination.

The MultiPlayer version of CMTM is still under consrtuction.

I agree with David. Check out the CMTM system.

To answer your question, You use the Properties button "?" in surveyor from the Object tab. Click on an interactive industry like the coal mine to see the screen where you change the settings for production and consumption. This screen may vary from industry to industry since several users have tried to script improvements to the base system over the years. You will just have to ask lots of questions if you want to play around with them.

A waybill is produced when an industry does not have enough of the item that it consumes. which is of course completely backwards to the real world. It works like this: The power plant needs coal so a waybill is generated telling the railroad to go someplace and find some coal and bring it to the power plant. No waybills are ever created for the product an industry produces. You just have to "pretend" you have an order to deliver empty cars for loading and then "find" a customer for the product.

The CMTM system is like using a car card and waybill system with the waybill riding along with the car. Just click on the car in Driver to see the waybill. It takes a little time to learn how to setup the system but you will love it.

Thanks for the feedback. We do use the card system at most of the HO layouts I operate on so I'll check out the recommendation.

Here is a briewf description of CMTMSystem3 features.

A window on left side of screen displays the reporting mark, car number, destination and load status for every car in the consist on which the camera is focused. The current car on which the camera is focused is highlighted in bold print. The window can be toggled to display only the car on which the camera is focused. The window is closed by clicking on the x in the upper right corner or by hitting the ESC key.

Multiple destinations for cars permit more prototype operations such as scale track, clean-out track, RIP track, icing station and other extra destinations for your freight cars. There is no known limit to the number of destination for a given car.

Supports seven continuous days of operations with capability of different mix of trains and traffic patterns each day. Seven day pattern repeats if you keep operations going.

Every freight car on the route at the beginning of a session is assigned a series of destinations.

Every freight car that arrives on the route via a portal is assigned a series of destinations and is loaded with the product you specify in the database.

No interactive industries are required. Any spot on your route can be an industry. Delivery locations are identified with a Track Mark.

Supports load/unload time of up to 99 hours, that is 4 days 3 hrs.

Additional pop-up window displays list of cars that have completed their load/unload cycles and are ready for pickup. List is sorted by location.

System accommodates empty car storage tracks for cars with no current destinations. Requests for empty cars to industries are issued on session start-up and are assigned to specific cars by Player. For multiple day operations, new empty car requests are issued shortly after midnight

Time advance allows jumping forward in time if there are no activities for an extended period

Session can be saved and restored with no loss of data.

System3 will be ready for Beta testing in a week or two.
