TS12 and My Bank!

clam1952

Welsh Narrow Gauge nut.
This has got to be a first.

Purchased TS12 on Line last week, all went through as normal, today went to pay a very large bill and found my debit card had been blocked, apparently there was an "unusual" overseas transaction and my account had possibly been compromised by someone in Australia! My Bank thought the TS12 purchase was a test to see if they could get money out of my account!

The good news is, after several phone calls culminating in making a complaint, as well as getting the card unblocked, I'm getting compensation off the Bank for the inconvenience which coincidentally more than covers the cost of TS12.

Thank you Lloyds. :)

I suspect this is the result of some sort of increased security after the Playstation hack?

My first Trainz purchase (TS2004) way back when resulted in exactly the same thing. I had to go down to the bank and unblock my account. Actually, I thought it rather nice that they caught it. Now, if I can only convince them to stop taking 1% of the sale as a "conversion fee". Shoot! It's all electrons anyway so why should they care?

Paypal helps here.

I can't see where PayPoo helps there !!!

Clam has actually ended up with TS12 for little more than the cost of a couple of phone calls, it appears to me, that
banking with Lloyds is more beneficial than giving PayPoo the option of making a profit.

Have you a problem with PayPal making a profit? The times I have had no recourse but to use PayPal, I have had no problems. I usually use Visa.

Having been stranded with frozen cards once in a foreign land I'm more than happy to use Paypal if it stops this type of thing happening. The cards were supposed to be on travel status.

Mother's card which is used to do her grocery shopping over the internet got cancelled due to a misunderstanding so we couldn't shop for six weeks. I ended up having to send in sausages via Fedex and fresh fruit and bananas via some other courier company whilst it got sorted out.
