Hey,

I've been a trainz fan for a while now, I'm currently running Trainz 2006.

I did buy the 2010 game but as with many other users, i wasnt impressed so went back to 2006.

---

I wondered could anyone tell me a few pros and cons for the new game?

I really dont want to pay £31.00 for a game i wont use (again)

---

Also, could someone explain the multiplayer in more detail?

-Can a user upload a layout to be used on multiplayer or is it game built layouts only?

-Will multiplayer become payware after beta?

---

Are there many Steam loco's in the base game? (Auran always seems to ignore steam loco's in its gallery!)

I really appreciate any comments,

Thanks, Dan. :)

Yes, user can, if his layout had been uploaded to DLS and it contain only built-in and DLS content

beta-multiplayer was in ts2010. Now it is official and free.

There are less steam locos than in ts2010.

Game engine had been slightly optimized. And there is no "Compatibility Mode" at all . Others is the same as ts2010.

railman. Don't know why you weren't impressed with 2010. It even beats 12 in my opinion (mainly because of routes and sessions that don't grab me) Not because of user freindly.2010 was the best and I still build in it. Most bought 12 (I think) for the multiplayer function but it hasn't taken off as expected.

Hi Dan,

TS12 has (sadly) only 3 steam locos.:'( These are:
1. Norfolk & Western Y6b
2. UP Big Boy
3. UP 0-6-0 Switcher

Also, none are British! Surely Flying Scotsman could've at least been included! However, there is a TS12-compliant Flying Scotsman on the DLS.

It is possible to upload Multiplayer routes and sessions, provided that the route, session and dependencies are all built-in or on the DLS, with no faults, warnings or errors.

Multiplayer is still free, and is lots of fun if you use Phil Skene's TS12-complient routes.

Dopper effect has now been included, but the routes are huge and will bog down a reasonable computer! Also, not as much content is included, with not as much variety in anything.

Personally, stick with TS2010. It is a lot better IMHO, incorporates most of the latest features and has a very large range of content available.:)

Thanks everyone,

Maybe i'll give 2010 another go.

Cheers,
Dan.

Yes, TS12 comes with less content than TS2010. But, N3V was making all 2010 built-in content available to TS12 users thru the DLS.

I can only assume that this content is now available as I had 2010 installed and transferred all the content directly into TS12. Therefore, for me, it never showed up in CM as available.

TS12 is the most stable version of Trainz I have used.

Go with TS12 if you have a system with at least the minimum specs.

Have not used Multi-player and have no interest in multi-player yet I would still choose TS12 over any other version.

And if you had 2010 you could (if you so desired) import all of the content from 2010 right into TS12. I chose not to do that after originally trying it to make sure it worked, it really just clogs up the database and I really like the speed of the database in TS12

And your older content will work in 2010 (compatibility mode). Most of it will not work in 2012. Also 2010 is about half the cost of 2012. By the way, 2010 is much better than 09. Route for route, frame rates on my machine are more than double 09 with sharper graphics.
