TRS2010 through steam

Are there any advantages/disadvantages to buying TRS2010 though steam? Its "only" $40 on steam, which is the same price I get if I use my 20% voucher or whatever it is, just trying to decide if its worth going through Auran and using the voucher, or if it would be better to buy the game on steam, and have it registered to my account there, which would prevent the files from ever getting lost'

The big things I am looking at are download friendliness, being able to backup my files, and using the program of course

There have been a few posts here about problems with the Steam version not installing properly. One thread addressed the quirk of Steam that it put your instillation files where IT wanted them instead of where YOU want them.

Why not just buy from Auran and support them?

Ok, to clarify a little...

First, TS2010 can be patched. However, it needs to be patched via steam. Hence, as it currently includes SP3, we haven't made an update available for it (via steam). If we produce further patches for TS2010, then we will be looking into it then.

For TS2009, well this is different. TS2009 can't be updated through our normal patch system, due to changes by/for Steam. However, it's also not fully compatible with Steam's update system. We have been looking into this, however at this time, the other builds have a higher priority. I'll see if the team has any news on this one next week that we could put out.

Again, TS2010 is able to be updated, however it's updates would be released via Steam. However, it will not actually update at this time because there are no updates currently available.

Yeah, I had to buy another copy of 2009. Don't buy Trainz on Steam.

Thanks guys! Priorities!

I had ONE program through Steam and never again. It has a great facility to keep your program updated, at the cost of wiping it out to as delivered from the box. Not good for a program like Trainz. A lot of modifications revert back to original if you let the game connect. Wipes out a lot of things when it "resets".
