Trs2010 Can not install Patch Sp3 Due to XP Sp2!!!

Thanks shaneturner12

I do not have any Virus protection programs installed on my non internet computer as it is not needed to just run Trainz or common games. I do have a 32bit os installed. :)

That narrows things down a bit - the other possibility regarding SP3 not installing is if any of the hardware/software is preventing it installing.

Just out of interest, do you have theMicrosoft Dynamics RMS system installed? This system can cause issues when installing SP3.

There is a manual (offline) installation version of SP3 available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A8-5E76-401F-BE08-1E1555D4F3D4&displaylang=en (This is the full version that is normally designed for network systems, but it may be possible to use it for standalone systems)

When you last attempted to install SP3, did you get any specific error messages?

Apologies if any of these questions offend you.

Shane

This is a non internet computer for gaming, so why would I want to patch more holes with Sp3 when I have a perfectly good working computer that is faster than I can click my mouse. Just more stuff to install for no reason. But Auran makes us load more service packs that is not needed for a never on the internet computer. Should be an option to just get the needed MSI Installer instead of loading a whole Sp3.

I agree with you SP3 is a PoS
I also comtech
It killed all 512 mb laptops the users put it on, well all i saw
Hum MS Help (OK I know it is a not used program. But there is a noticable slowdown of that app after SP3 and although I do 7 and 4 gigs at 64 bit is stupid better to run 3 gigs at 32 less overhead, (I use more than 4)

Anyway if you really serious about sticking with SP2 you could load trainz on a new PC install the update and copy it bact to your PC. I bet that would work.

And to all the people that use 7, xp is quicker. I was playing with 3 laptops the other day 2 i3 and and i5 the slower i3 with xp was quickest at everything
which piss me off cause the i5 was mine. :'(
that included avatar which seams like a pretty full on game

After I had those issues. When I originally installed it, it was on a clean install of XP Pro with a complete format but I did the test before I installed it. Maybe that is wrong because of all of the drivers are installed before the fact.

First download and save the “stand alone” version of Windows XP SP3 -

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5B33B5A8-5E76-401F-BE08-1E1555D4F3D4&displaylang=en

After installing the OS (full reformat without anything connected to the machine except of course the keyboard and mouse, do not reformat while connected to the internet), install SP3 that you saved earlier.

Install your chipset drivers.

Install the latest DirectX redistributable.

Install your network connection (Ethernet) drivers

At this point with XP I install IE8 that I previously saved on CD/DVD.

When that is complete you go directly to Windows update and download all of the latest updates for XP/SP3.

After all of the Windows updates have been installed, run the DirectX web installer to grab any updates that might have been missed in the redistributable.

Install your video card drivers followed by your sound card drivers.

As far as going with the 64bit os, whats the point as will Trainz perform better?

Ever hear of limits on memory and address space with using a 32-bit OS?

I did this test about a year ago and I did see better graphics in Flightsim but not much framerate improvement.

I don't know how you saw “better graphics in Flightsim” when running it on a 64-bit OS?

I thought I saw better graphics

But I do have unreliable eyesite, Somedays a little cloudy with more floaters and some days very clear. Maybe my eyes were running in 64bit also that day. Lol. I see your point as the graphics can not improve because they are alread done in a 32bit environment.
