TRS2009 or TRS2010

Check topics before purchase

Before you go with TS2009, check the area of these forums for problem threads like the SP4 Bugs topic.

Right now I find the whole change to routes annoying. They greyed out options for saving/overwriting routes, now whenever you save a route, it gets saved with a new KUID# and the old one gets erased. Adding to this, a Session always gets saved but the old ones don't get erased resulting in a lot of orphaned sessions with no routes to go with them.

I used to like the option where I could save a route with no session when I was not ready to make one but that appears to be gone.

After reading some of those problem threads, you may well change your mind. I have not heard of TS2010 having these issues or any for that matter.

And with TS2010, you actually get Speedtrees and can use those made by others. With TS2009 SP4, you get shaders with no plugin so cannot use Speedtrees.

As for price, if you have or can get a voucher, TS2010 from Auran costs only $5 more than TS2009. I'll bet someone can get you a voucher, I used to get emails about people trying to send me vouchers, I have four sitting under my profile including 2 for TS2010.

Do not go for TS2009, it is almost a 'backwater' version and I feel sure that before long there will be no more updates for it. Get TS2010 if at all possible.

I have both and I am convinced that TS2010 is the better program.

I used to have that speedtree problem too until it was patched... I would go for digital download because you can access it any time, anywhere. And you don't have to worry about protecting disks.

I see what your saying but ill go with 2009 for now cuz like said be for its in my price range and ill be sure to look out for any bugs.

Upgraded to 2010

Just bought 2010. How do I get all the routes I have from 2009 into 2010, particularly the ones I have produced as well as the S&C I have upgraded into 2009

dont hijack my thread please if you want an answer please start your own thread.

Speaking of the topic, I had an email today saying prices on several Trainz products were lowered so TS2010 may be in reach for you.

If you haven't done it yet, start digging around for PEV's software and what it takes to get it running. A BIG help. The content might be able to be used in Compatibility Mode, but, without the error correction to get it to show in Native, it will drag performance down. Worth the time to get it fixed.

With little available content for native mode and the way 2009 handles alphas in that mode, I have to use it in compatibility. Frame rates take a dive to get things to show properly.

Just a heads up.

Depends, under SP3 if you put some settings right, some items do not have alpha problems.
Now SP4, I am not sure I recommend that yet.
