TRS19 on SSD drive

Can anyone help, please.
I have been running TRS19 on an HDD since its introduction without any problems. When I treated myself to a Samsung 1TB SSD drive and tried to run TRS19 I get a message saying that this program will not run on this machine and to contact the software supplier for a suitable version. TANE still works. Tried re-installing TRS19 and got a message saying unable to patch. Any help and advise would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi Ken, thanks for your response. Before I disconnected the old drive I pointed everything to J: drive (the name allocated to the new drive) and everything worked ok TRS19 ran properly having redirected to J:drive. I then disconnected the old drive and checked the file location of the TRS19 short cut and this and the SSD drive had taken on the identity of C: drive. TANE still works ok but TRS19 says it will not run on this PC.

I had a somewhat similar situation. I tried to move the TRS19 installation (not the build) to SSD. Response was that it could not be authorized. Now I just run the build on SSD.

How far do you get before it says TRS19 won't run? Launcher or doesn't it get that far?

In my case (the not authorized error), it happened after the launcher (where you see the message for server authorization).

John7780 - Despite moving your program and data files for TRS19 to your new J Drive SSD, there is still a need for an 'N3V Games' folder and (small) file(s) on your C: (Boot) drive.
Assuming Windows 10 64 bit, the folder would still be located in your 'Users' directory on C:.
Probable path would look something like this: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\local\N3V Games\TRS19\userdata-redirect-map.txt

The text file - userdata-redirect-map.txt - shows the path to the program executable (TRS19.exe) and the path to your Userdata folders for TRS19. Check that they point to the correct locations.
My own example, where TRS19 has been installed on a Samsung SSD on my boot drive, is recorded simply as: "c:/trs2019" "C:/TRS2019/Userdata"

Note that it is best to create and name a folder to hold all of your TRS19 local Userdata files that is descriptive and easily recognised. (Example might be: "J:\TRS19\Userdata )
This is set by the path to your local data folder in the Install tab of 'Trainz Settings' accessed from the TRS19 Launcher initial screen.

Thank you to all who are helping me with this problem. I have only limited computer knowledge so hope I am understanding what you are telling me. I followed what you have told me and checked the files and found that the .exe file for TRS19 was empty so I connected the old C: drive again (now called F:) and deleted the empty file on the C: drive (used to be J:) and then copied the file from F: to C:. I can now access the download station but if I try to run trains it does a database repair and then hangs. There is also a Patch available from TRS19 RC1 98510 to 98592. This will not work because of a checksum mismatch. What do I do now please? Sorry to be a nuiscence. John

John,

You've created a mess, I think!

At the Launcher:

Click on developer on the top.

Where it says Rebuild database, press the CTRL-key at the same time as you click on that.

This will run for a very long time and verify the data if there is in fact an issue with that.

It would be nice if you can download the latest update as that will bring your install up-to-date, but I can't help you with the connectivity issue.

Sounds like a delete it all and re-install job to me, won't patch as probably now got patched parts mixed up with unpatched, thus the checksum error.

Thanks to everyone for your help and advice. In the end the nuclear option was necessary (delete and start again)! As I am retired this is my day job and I miss it when it doesn't work.

John

I'm glad you got TRS19 to work.

I can relate. Trainz is a full-time job and a way of life. :)

Need to download Magician Software for your SSD

:D One other thing with your Samsung SSD, you should have, or need too download Magician Software for your SSD, made by Samsung, you'll see a difference in Read/Write speeds to the drive.....

Here is the links,,,,,

The first link shows you pictures on how to install and what to look for, it doesn't take long, and you'll need to do a Reboot.....;)

Please come over to my site, see Message # 958 and I show pictures after the Magician installation....I did this on my old HP Envy computer when I first bought a SSD from Samsung, and now I have a new laptop, 5 years later, with old SSD and used the Magician Software again in Win10,,,,,,And my ASUS ROG just flies with the speed of Magician....

https://forums.auran.com/trainz/sho...ey-Distr-Ctr-(High-Resolution-950x532)-Approx (you,ll need to scroll down to #958

For example, I use Malware bytes to weed out the nasty's that try to get in here, usually it was 15-20 mins to do a Scan, today,,,,,1.5 mins.....Proof is in the pudding.......

And above all, ask a second opinion from others to verify what I am saying here..........

Thanks for your post Blue. I used the Magician when I set up the SSD. Trouble was caused, I think, because I left the HDD connected in the system for a while (just in case!!). When I plucked up the courage to disconnect it things went pear shaped. Happily, all sorted now and trainz running better than ever.
