TRS 2009 - Andi06 Junction Kit

I know these were built for TRS 2004/ 2006. Do these still work for TRS 2009? I still think they are the best looking junctions out there.

Since we're on the topic, I've been wondering about this for a while. Do these junctions have points and frogs? And I see that there are a lot of items for it on the DLS, what's that all about. If someone could give a brief crash course on the use of this that'd be great. Maybe with some pictures :D

I have used Andi's junctions quite extensively, and wiring them isn't really that hard once you get the hang of it. Still haven't figured out how to blend the ballast with my track yet, but am working on it.

I use Andi's junctions nearly all the time in 2009 and they are great.

Wiring up is easy once you've done a few. Put the junction in "Edit Mode" to do the wiring.

The only problem I have with them is direction setting. Setting the default direction does not always seem to work and takes some fixing and sometimes the junctions look OK but don't work for AI drivers. If anybody has any tips regarding this I would welcome them.

Place a JK Control Box (1 only) anywhere on your layout then save and reload the session. This should fix any issues with the initial direction settings.

I'm having trouble getting the JK junction components to work in TS09. They show as red and don't come up in TS09 SP1 with patches, but in TS09 SP2 beta the junction will come up, but does not have the nodes for wiring.

Edit: Fixed the problem. I was forgetting to enter the edit mode for the object. Should have read the excellent FAQ first<g>

Is there any way to add new track textures to the library?
I would like to use the US Mainline track for the turnouts that I have on all my mainline track.

I'll just reawaken this thread instead of making a new one.

I have been using theese junction kit turnouts extensively and in very complex trackwork and i have never had any issues with AI or signalling or anything like that, BUT I have in some cases experienced when i save a scenario and load it later a train will have derailed. I have checked it by reloading and moving to the train instantly and it derails as soon as the session has loaded, cars and locos flying everywhere... In all cases there was a JK turnout under the train. I also always place a JK control box on the map. But can this box throw a switch that a train is on or could it be some glitch in the wiring? It seems there are a few switches on my map more prone to this but i have no clue why trains derail more often here....

Any clues?

Using AJS track in TS2010

I have been trying to use AJS track and points with TS2010- I have no problem with setting up the track and adding a turnout. I have then edited the turn out to match the track. All is well at this point and everything works as it should. Having completed my session, I save the layout as usual.
When I return to editing my lay out I find that the turnout has reverted to the original track type.
I am having a similar problem using AJS stations- I set up the properties for a particular station. I save the layout but on reloading the layout all the Station properties have been lost.
Has anyone any suggestions to overcome the loss of data?

Hello all,
I'm considering using these masterpieces.
However, I hear some people say they don't work with AI, some say they do.
I'm using TS2010. Anyone got a confirmation?
EDIT: Got another yes from an 09 user. Looks good for me then.

Bev, The way trainz works things like track textures and industry settings are only saved in the "session" not in the "route", I don't have 2010 installed at the mo but try adding a "session" layer before you save your route.

You should be able to save the settings to the route layer. Make sure you are operating in route layer mode by clicking on the layers button (on the right hand toolbar, looks like a pile of books) and checking if the bit which says "route-layer" is in a lighter blue than the toolbar. If it isn't, you're not in it. Click on it to make it turn blue, which means you're operating in it. Get your junction settings saved, save the route AND session, load up the route only in Surveyor and check.
This isn't certain. Just an idea. Never tried it myself.

I haven't had any luck saving the JK Junction settings to the route.
The asset itself is on the route layer, but apparently the settings for texture are on the session layer.

I think there is a way to save to the route, but it's not as simple as selecting the route layer when you place the asset.

This is a Trainz problem, not the content creator's fault.

You just have to be very careful when using assets that have settings that need to be saved.

Don't worry though; Auran is aware of the problem. Perhaps a future version of Trainz (TS2020?) will fix this.

I have never had any issues with the AI over theese switches, in fact when it comes to complex track configurations including several double slips, the AI is navigating them more easily then you are, simply because the switch points come so close to eachother that hitting the correct switch is a real pain.

That is where the yardtower and humptower comes in. I was unable to get the humptower to work in 2010 but the yardtower works flawlessly.
