Trouble with Pweiser's Pantographs

I recently downloaded several of Pweiser's electric locos from his site, but I can only get two of. the loco's pantographs to activate in TRS22 Driver. The others won't activate, and when I click on the pantograph icon, I get the message: "Only enabled when the selected train is fitted with pantographs".

Pantographs that work are on the E3B, and the E2C locos.

Pantographs that don't work are on the P5AM,P5A,P5A Freight, and the P5AM Freight locos.

Anyone have any ideas what is causing this problem?

Thanks,
Joe

Try hooking up a locomotive with working pantos (in your case the E3B or E2C) with one that has faulty pantos (in your case the P5a) and then raising the pantographs on the train. I tried this, and the P5a's pantographs raised up. The only downside is that if you want to change which pantograph is raised, you have to spawn another loco then correct it.

I wouldn't count on PantographState command. The problem is probably that the P5A has either no named panto attachment points in the mesh or no pantograph asset assigned in the config.txt file. I'm not sure which situation TS22 uses to make the determination.

Update: I just checked and the P5a series has attachment points named panx0 panx1 (the PRR experimentals probably have both pant0/1 and panx0/1 with invisible pantos assigned to the pant0/1 points). Question: do the pantographs operate in Driver?

In Trainz electric locomotives are defined by the existence of attachment points named a.pant# (# = any digit). Some steam locomotives use pantographs for moving cabin doors. These locomotives partially behave like electric locomotives (only moving with raised pantographs).

PWeiser's electric locomotives, which are having the above problem, just need an attachment point a.pant0 and an invisible pantograph (in config.txt: pantograph <kuid of the invisible pantograph>). Example of an invisible pantograph: <kuid:166065:111899> EMT Dummy Pantograph

Thanks! Looks like these need, as a minimum, a.pant0 attachment point added and an invisible pantograph assigned in config.txt (in place of the actual pantograph asset which is currently called out in config.txt). Probably add a.pant1, also, just to be safe. Their location isn't important as long as they're between a.limfront and a.limback. The real pantograph assets are called out by KUID in config and by config tag in the script, so with that modification everything should work.

Legacy versions were more forgiving of what made an electric, I think, or at least of when they allowed use of the associated features.

Just tested <kuid:520526:2421> PRR Class P5aM Electric - Freight. Seems the current version of the locomotive behaves like an electric (no movement without raised pantograph, key command working), the only part not working is the pantograph icon. The pantograph icon is only enabled, if an a.pant# attachment point is existing.
