Triggers work how?

I thought I had triggers working for me until the last one I placed. I have 2 trains "waiting for trigger ABR-IN to be triggered by NS 1600 2". NS 1600 2 drives right over the trigger and my trains are still waiting.

On a related note: is the list of trains that appears in the wait for trigger driver command controlled by where the driver is assigned or the "heading" of the train in surveyor at the time the command is selected? And speaking of train heading in surveyor, does the heading always revert to the track direction when you reload a route or does this just happen to me? I had been ignoring the train heading until I noticed that wait for trigger wouldn't let me select the engine my driver was assigned to but would let me select the engine at the other end of the train. since this was going to be the rear of the train when it crossed the trigger in question I knew this wasn't going to work.

Is there any other driver command I could use or is there a somewhere I could learn exactly what wait-for-trigger is doing?

All comments greatly appreciated

try putting a signal in front of the waiting consists, holding the mouse pointer on the signal aspect, if on red will tell you if there's a problem with the track in front.
are you using the copy command from rule?. I've found that if you delete a trigger then replace and rename it exactly the same it wont be recognised until its removed and replaced in the command library. Also if you've given the driver orders in surveyor the same applies.
Its the heading of the train which defines which locos you can select, get the consist going in driver then put the trigger command in.
