There should be some built in horn triggers in the object menu, called sound horn and sound horn bi-directional.

 I have found the triggers in the "tracks - add objects menu" and I can place them. Then I get a bit stuck on how you make the trigger work. I have been on the edit session menu and don't have clue how to use them to sound a horn or change weather. Maybe I'm just being stupid! Please help!!

The ones I specified make AI trains sound the horn once as soon as they touch them. They cannot change weather. There are plenty of weather-changing rules on the DLS. One is called set driver conditions rule, and can change most startup options, including time rate, weather, and whether all locomotives have lights on or off.

HTH,

I have found out that you can indent rules under the trigger rule to change weather. There is a play sound rule that I'm sure you can indent to play a horn sound, but don't know what wav. file to use to play horn sounds.

Hi Plugheater, the 'trigger' referred to by Captain Collins is not a trigger as in a green 'T' but a trackside object that is placed onto the track where you choose and when a train passes over it the horn/whistle of the train is sounded. I am using TRS2006 and can find them in the 'Trackside Mode' (middle icon when in tracks in surveyor) and the objects are called 'Sound horn' and 'Sound horn bi directional'. I cant remember if they are called this in TRS2004

Hope this helps, Andy

Need a track Marker

You need a track marker. Here's how:

Place a track mark where you want the horn to sound.

for the command :

Drive via track mark, after Hornz

Look for the whistle rule kuid:70049:20001 and sign kuid2:68236:11025:1.
Place the sign on the track and give it a name. Add the whistle sign rule to the session and open for edit. select the name of the sign and what sound you want.
