TRC and Roads

I am running TS19 build 110491.

When assembling a TRC Crossing I am having trouble with the road where it attaches to the crossing. It seems impossible to a get a vehicle to drive smoothly over the crossing without doing a sort of 'jump' either up or down.

Is it possible to get a vehicle to make smooth transition of the crossing?

Which crossing and which road do you use?

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

An old problem. There is no standard set for the correct elevation of spline ends as used in roads. A crossing has two (or more) spline components, the one for the track and the one for the road. Attach a track and it matches so the train runs smoothly, but somehow, the spline section of traffic is not properly set for the correct elevation of the road and the cars jumps. Auran used to say it is up to creators, but they should have set the exact parameters so this would not happens, and if anyone makes an asset that does not meet specs, it would not be allowed at DLS. Fixing this should not be so complicated..

Hmmm.

These are all of the TRC V3 crossings I have:

<kuid2:458053:100723:2> TRC US Co +30° 1L 1T
<kuid2:458053:100726:2> TRC US Co -30° 1L 1T
<kuid2:458053:100734:2> TRC US Co +30° 1L 2T
<kuid2:458053:100741:2> TRC US Co -30° 1L 2T
<kuid2:458053:100432:1> TRC US Co 1L 1T
<kuid2:458053:100732:2> TRC US Co 1L 2T
<kuid2:458053:100745:2> TRC US Co 2L 1T
<kuid2:458053:100751:2> TRC US Co 2L 2T
<kuid2:458053:100706:2> TRC US M -30° 1T
<kuid2:458053:100708:2> TRC US M 2T
<kuid2:458053:100701:2> TRC US M +30° 1T
<kuid2:458053:100711:2> TRC US M +30° 2T
<kuid2:458053:100715:2> TRC US M -30° 2T
<kuid2:458053:100366:2> TRC US M 1T

This short video shows them all set-up and running with connected roads.
No jumping at the crossing.

Thank you for video. Not really for me though as I could hide the track the same way that you have done which makes it look unrealistic.

Every railroad crossing I have seen has a different surface from the 'normal' road surface. These are represented very well in Trainz thanks to the Content Creators.

The track isn't hidden on purpose by me.

If you connect a road spline to the road attachment points correctly, it will look like that.

Then you place crossing boards on the track and it looks prototypical.

Could be you are not doing this? Are you just running your roads over the crossing without connecting them TO the crossing?

Yes I am doing all those things. I tried connecting an invisible road to the actual crossing then connecting the actual road I was using to the crossing. This leaves the crossing blank. Adding a Crossing board (I am using the JR Rubber Grade Crossing) makes the vehicle jump down then back up as it crosses over the crossing.

The work around I am practising with is to use Andi06's Invisible Roads. A tip from another forum topic (I forget which one) but they were talking about roads and the suggestion from Approach Medium to paint the roads with texture and then add road lines and markings to suit.

BTW when I connected just the road to the crossing it went over as per your video and adding the crossing board served no purpose as it was hidden under the road.

Many thanks for your suggestions.

With the road attached to the traffic stopper, raise or lower the stopper a smidge as required to ensure that the rails are slightly embedded into the surface of the road and then place a crossing such as JR wood crossing or rubber crossing over the surface. You may need to adjust the stopper a bit more once you have the crossing in place to ensure that the crossing doesn't sit too high above the road. This procedure is the same whether you are using TRC or ATLS crossings.

I just updated Trainz 2019 to 110491 and I noticed that TRC is not working on some of my routes

Can't help too much with this I'm afraid excepting that TRC assets have been updated, the big difference that I found is that you only need 1 TRC Trigger to both open and close the barriers. That would the first thing I would check.

I have build 110491 and TRC works in my version, which possibly is no help to you at all except that TRC does work in this build. :(

Good luck with it.

I use the trc traffic stoppers. I place them over the rails in de direction I want i.e. without connecting the rails. I connect the road to the stopper. Sometimes I have to adjust the height of the stopper so the rails will show. Then I tart the crossing up with barriers, warning lights, etc. only assets of course that work with trc. Very easy, no problem at all. (I use sap_us asphalt road.)

I've pretty much given up on the "stock" RR crossings. I use the ATLS objects to create my own crossings and they work perfectly. I can create any angle crossing with smooth transitions. Yes, it's a lot more work and can sometimes be a bit of a hassle, but hey, I'm retired so I have plenty of time. :p

Snap, like wise and also except I am using TRC. Much more flexibility and like you say, we have the time.

JCitron said much the same thing. It worked a treat.

Can't help I'm afraid except suggest deleting and reinstalling the rogue assets.

Many thanks for the replies.

I mainly use TRC on my routes including NS Reading Line and Reading & Northern but I learned from someone on discord that TRS2019 breaks TRC randomly sometimes and that's what I think happened to some of my routes that use TRC

So:

Now I'm also having V3 TRC troubles.

Initially my crossings would not close, and I figured out that the track and roads both have to be connected to a TRC stopper directly. I had them built wrong.

I was initially using a V3 TRC stopper on top of a Fixed Track crossing <kuid:217465:1148> Schranke 1936 1-gleisig and <kuid:217465:1149> Schranke 1936 2-gleisig, with the track connected to the crossing instead. I did not realize the TRC stoppers had both track and road connectors. This of course was easily fixed.

I rebuilt the crossing with the scenery versions of the Schranke 1936 crossing signal arms and the crossings worked fine. EXCEPT...

In a session, the crossings close, vehicles stop, the crossing re-opens... but the vehicles do not resume driving... They just stay stuck for the entire session.

I have no idea what's causing this.

For roads I'm using SAM SRS cobble roads and SAM Forest cobble roads with invisible roads connected off map in order to generate traffic, which works just fine.

Any ideas guys?

Rico
