Moving a route

If I have a route that I created in TS2010 on one computer that has been saved as a CDP, can I transfer that route to another computer with TS12 via a USB thumb drive? Is there a particular procedure to follow? I have NEVER tried to transfer a file before, and I warn you, I not very good at this kind of stuff, so dumb it down as much as possible !!
Thanks.

I've been transferring all my TS10 stuff to TS12 via CDPs just lately. Here is what I found:
A CDP of the route references all it's dependencies but does not include them. When you load the route CDP into another Trainz installation, the route will:

- EITHER pick up the dependencies if you already have them downloaded to the new installation of Trainz

- OR show any dependencies not extant in that installation of Trainz as missing (yellow ? against the route name in CM).

The missing dependencies (right click the route name and select "missing dependencies" from the drop down list) will show as being available from the download station OR as unknown KUIDs.
- EITHER download missing dependencies that are on the Download station

- OR find them in your original installation of Trainz (the one your loaded the route CDP from) and save them individually as CDPs to import to the Trainz installation in which you loaded the route CDP. (It's quicker to use the download station if you have a FCT - but see below re possible faulty KUIDs).

The unknown KUIDs should also be known and available on your original Trainz installation (the one you made the route CDP from). Save those too as individual CDPs and load them into your new Trainz installation.
If KUIDs show as faulty in the new Trainz installation, it may be because you you fixed them in your original Trainz installation but you have re-downloaded a faulty version from the download station.
You can save your original fixed kuid as a CDP and install that instead - after you delete the faulty version from your new installation of Trainz.
You should then end up with a fully-imported and fault-free working route, although you may have to reiterate some of the above steps to get every last KUID.
One glitch that might occur is that the kuid number for your route CDP might already be used by something in your new Trainz installation. If so, the import dialogue will warn you and ask if you want to overwrite whatever posesses that KUID. DO NOT OVERWRITE or you'll lose whatever is overwritten by the route CDP. Instead, resave the route with a new KUID in the old Trainz installation, so there is no conflict, then have another go at importing the route CDP.
Lataxe, who's hard disks are red hot with whizzing KUIDs.
