Hello guys,
I'm planning on creating a route based on real life railway and i found TransDEM here, which can give me the basic route, so is there any present users of that tool here ?, is it easy to use ??, does it support TS 2009/2010?? , does it run on Windows 7 x64 ??, does it support Muti-core ??

can anyone please provide me with a sample data to test ,to see how easy is it use ??

is there any free alternative available ?? (i'm a very poor man )

or could you please make the data required for me, and give it ???

any other ideas ??

:DNo reason why it should not run on W7
:DRuns ok on my Multi core
:DNo sample Data you need the program
:DUnderstand there is an alternative method but TranzDEM is the way to go

Microdem http://www.usna.edu/Users/oceano/pguth/website/microdem/microdem.htm which is free plus as already mentioned Hog again free.

Tutorial for Microdems use with Trainz and Hog here http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry....rrainGeneration/Computer-generatedTerrain.htm

It is a bit dated as the tutorial is for an older version of Microdem, however the basics are the same.

The main differences apart from slightly different menu layout is that you do not need to do the maximum and minimum height conversion to metres from feet as the newer version of Microdem is now in metres.
You also do not need to convert the saved image to TGA which HOG uses by using an external graphics program as it will now save in TGA.

Take you time with the tutorial and have a play with a test DEM and you should be able to get the hang of it.

Works OK with 2009 or it did for me. :)
