TrainzObectz

Does anyone know how to use TrainzObjectz? I have been trying for 8 or 9 years without much luck. I've ended up with just a huge mess. Some changes work and most don't - as though Trainz uses a completely different file. Has anyone written a better program?
Also, why can't I archive or delete built-in content? For North American layouts, I find I don't need or want about 95% of it. It just plugs up my system and makes it harder to find things .

I frequently use TrainzObjectZ with no problems and find it invaluable:
a) for instantly changing all instances of an asset such as track to another.
b) for checking that I have not assigned the same KUID to two objects.
c) for removing unwanted dependencies from a downloaded route
d) for getting instantly to an asset's folder or config file if there's a problem
and so on.

What are the specific problems you are having?

When you on Trainz Objectz Click Downloads Then there should be like a key about what download works with what version. Then click the symbol your version is and then download it. Also Search this username on DLS (Trainz Download Station) Tafweb. That is the person who makes Trainz Objectz. I hope this helps. :D

Also, if the content is built-in, you will not be able to remove it - this data is not stored in World>Custom or World>Dispatcher>Downloads (I am assuming you are using TRS2004 or earlier).

Arguably, Auran has written a better program. It's called Content Manager Plus:hehe: . Of course you have to buy a version newer than TRS2004 to get it.

Builtin assets are all compressed together in one .ja file, hence can't be individually deleted. However, you can disable any kuids that you don't want to show up in Surveyor.

I want to use TrainzObjectz to change the Region and Type of content, both built-in and from DLS. This is to simplify finding various objects and/or rolling stock in Surveyor (for rolling stock, the problem seems to be mostly with Paintshed stuff). Objectz always says I made the changes but Trainz usually shows all the old unchanged data. Is there more than one file? It seems that some Regions/Types in DLS objects are hard-coded and cannot be changed in Objectz. This problem has not shown up with Ground Textures.

In the Cache folder (it may be called something slightly different in TRS2004, but as I haven't used that for a while, I cannot remember), in addition to world_cache_dispatcher.chump there are a few other .chump files that relate to other content in Trainz. I would advise making a backup of them then removing them (the actual files, not the backup) - if a problem does happen, you can always restore from the 'mini-backup'. Also, make sure you include world_cache_dispatcher.chump in that list.

Be aware though, that Trainz may take a while to load.

Builtin assets may not show changes as they are usually stored in .ja files.
