TrainzMeshImporter and normal maps

I have been trying to process some content with normal mapped textures using the TrainzMeshImporter to make IM's.

The resulting IM's are corrrupt.. They crash CMP for TRS2006 and are not accepted by CM3 for TS2010... and they don't render correctly in my Trainz Mesh Viewer.

If I change the material (*.m.tbumptex) to non normal mapped the process works fine..

TMI produces a block of data associated with normal mapping and that is the bit that seems to be corrupted.. It has supposed floating point numbers that are not recognised as such.

Have any of you Blender users found that you can't export normal mapped objects??
 
Works OK for me, the normal map has to be a separate texture and can not be used on a mesh that is animated by rotation.
