Trainz2010

Hi. I have Trainz2004, Murchison 2009 and have recently Purchased 2010 although the service pack that came with it would not install. I also changed my video card from a 128 Mb Gigabyte card to an Asus Nvidia 896Mb card.
Both 2004 and Murchison 2009 give no problems but 2010 has caused me lots of frustration.I experience problems like points wont change, trains disappear into nothingness, one wagon at a time, freezing for 10-30 seconds on occasions when changing views from cab to external or tracking view and back again. In basic Neddertalbahn [cab mode] I get the message 'Trainz has encounted a problem and has to close' [3 times sucessively] and to decouple I have to go the menu's on the lower LH corner as the icon on the RH side will not work for me. Also there are at least 20 games in German without translation for English speaking countries.
There is no session information [as in Murchison2009] that one can refer to to play a game, making it a bit hit and miss and to top it all of, the braking instructions in the manual are conflicting as are the on screen instructions. In the manual [p46] Z is lap and A is application and also in practice but p4 and the on screen instructions has them reversed. Any ideas why I'm having so many problems. I forgot to say that on advice I have 'folded' Murchison 2009 into 2010 and still have 2004 installed. Anyone got any ideas?

Trainz2010 has old braking problems

Sorry no answer, but experiencing the same problems:
  • switching views takes almost minutes,
  • toggling the map (M) to find out where you are from internal view (1), returns to external view (4) in the swaying tree tops, and waiting for minutes to switch back to internal view (1).
  • is there an option to switch off those trees to get some train performance?
  • braking instructions are conflicting since TSR2004; found a better explanation in a boxed TSR2006 manual (with the same messed up Q-Z-A and KP3-KP6-KP9 mapping), but I never managed to get it working according to the manuals. Q releases that is for sure, A and Z randomly give Initial (?), Application and Lap; apparently the developers got confused too!

Well your both luckier than I am. My new Dell Studio XPS, 8Gig Ram, 1Gig Nvidia 240 video card cant even get TS2010 to set up period. Both cd's install but Options just lock up and I have to 3 finger my way out of it.

TRS 2006 tells me that the procedure entry point could not be found once I have installed SP1.

I had a similar problem when I first got TS2010. The advice given was to go into Content Manager and do an Extended Database Repair 3 times. Then do a search for missing or broken dependencies. It worked like a charm.

RRSignal....thank you totally ! It worked. I even have my own layout from TRS2006 up and running and everything showed up. I am a happy camper. I'm uninstalling TRS2006 now.

You're welcome. I really do think that this trick should be included in the manual since it comes up so often. I suspect a lot of folks who even have working installs but suffer lousy performance are suffering from a bad asset database.
