This has been covered lots of times before, but here you go...

1) Restart your comp
2) Go to your Auran folder
3) delete the file named "Assets.tdx" from the main directory
4) Open the 'Cache' folder
5) Delete the "Assests.bku" file from here
6) Restart the comp again
7) Load the game as normal (do NOT go in through CMP)
8) Wait... TRS needs to re-build its database and the time it takes will depend on a) How much custom content is installed and b) Your comp specs. To give you some idea my laptop takes about 10-15 minutes and has about 5GB of custom content whereas my desktop takes about 30 seconds but only has about 2GB and 5x the processing power.

Also be aware you will probably need to do this whenever you download something new off the DLS but not when you install from a CDP saved to your machine.

Hope that helps.

But those files are not on my computer (TRS2004). I installed yesterday, tried many times to launch, and finally it did. Today (8 hours later) I'm back to rendering failure, and I haven't done much of anything in between. Just internet and email.

Have you tried changing from Open/GL to DirectX? This may solve that problem. What are the specs on your machine? Can you upload a copy of the Dx-Diag file?

This information is really helpful in troubleshooting because many PCs are different from each other and even though some may have the same components, they may work differently in some way.

Good luck.

But those files are not on my computer (TRS2004).
TRS2004 is very different to TRS2006, TC and TRS2009. Those instructions don't apply to TRS2004 and TRS2004 doesn't have those files.

TRS2004 holds each asset in a separate kuid folder, whereas TRS2006 and later store them in a database system.

If your TRS2004 gives you problems again, create a new thread and post the details including the full text of the error message if there is one, and someone will almost certainly try to help you.
