Has anyone bought and played Trainz Simulator: Murchison 2 - Standalone Pack for TS2009? Is it worth the $$$? Is it compatable with TZ2006? Or will it only run in TZ2009?

Hi

As the creator of Murchison2 I will leave it to others to comments on its worth. However I can advise on MURCHISON 2 for TRS2006.

Is it compatable with TZ2006? Or will it only run in TZ2009?

The TS:MURCHISON2 program, that was released by Auran, will only work on TS2009 and TS2010.
However Murchison 2 for TRS2004, TRS2006 and Classics is available from the TRAINZONE website. The cost is less than the TS2009 program but only includes 9 of the 29 sessions available with the TS2009 version.

MURCHISON2 for pre-TS2009 TRAINZ

I can tell you that the route is gorgeous. I can tell you hundreds (thousands?) of hours went into it. I can tell you I bought it and enjoy it.

I can't tell you if it's "worth the $$$". That's always a decision the individual has to make.

Brodie,
I agree with what ChutePilot has said above. Its an incredible layout and well worth the money in my humble opinion. (I've never heard of anyone every regretting purchasing this great layout/route). Well over 3500+ hours went into it's creation. Probably 100's more hours went into creating the sessions.
I assume you have looked at some screenshots of the layout? - http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=406
Cheers, Mac...

I would consider it if I did not have to buy it from Auran... After the route issues with 2010 I do not trust them at all with built-in / add-on routes. Also, I have no desire or need to buy TRAINZ again. Can we get a stand 2009/2010 so I don't have to purchase a second copy of game?

Brodie, I would recommend the 2006 version, as I have the standalone 2009 pack and it crashed windows. No one's seem to be able (or want to) help. Just my $0.02.

Hi Marvin

Crashing on your system doesn't necessarily mean that TS2009 is the problem.
The crashing may be the result of hardware or settings in your machine.

I have worked extensively on TS2009 and have found it a very stable TRAINZ version.
With the added advantage of the 29 sessions and TS2009's QUICK DRIVE I would defintely go for TS:MURCHISON2.

Yup, I have it installed as a standalone and everything works great. I also had it installed in 2009 and currently have it installed in 2010. No problems. I use Murchison quite a bit in "edit" mode just to check out how things are constructed in the landscape department. It saves me loads of time while building my own route.
