Trainz Simulator 3 - TS3 Questions

I wanted to ask if the PC version is still being developed or if they are now focusing on the mobile market because DTG is not there yet.

Have no fear, the PC/Mac version is still being developed. Surveyor v2.0 was recently announced by Tony with a few "teaser" shots.

This may seem crazy but I cannot find any way to quit the game anywhere from the menu
The only way I have found so far is to restart my phone.

I have the same issue and reached the same solution.

Surely this cannot be the case?

You have to restart your phone to leave the game!!??

Anyone?

Terry

Installed on my Realme 6 pro and working well.

I'm very obviously missing something obvious to everyone else.

HELP!

Terry

Try minimising the app and then clearing it from the app bar at the bottom of the screen. There are quite a few apps that have to be closed this way on my Huawei. On many phones often all open apps can be brought to the screen in a line running to the right by taping the square icon on the app bar. Then press on the app that you wish to close, and flick it towards the top of the screen.

However, when all else fails with Android, there is often no alternative but to RFM on the phone. its all part of the joy of mobile gaming.

Help for Tablet,

I used Samsung Galaxy Tab A with Google.. I checked Google Play can't find to Trainz Simulator 3.

Let me know

NKP

I have a Lovono Flex 5i Chromebook that also can load and operate Android apps as most recent Chromebooks can. However, on the Google Play-store Trainz 3 does not show up as app that can be downloaded to a Chromebook or tablet. That always means that the app has not been optimised for Android tablets only phones.

Whether we shall see it on Chrome OS in the near future i would very much doubt, although it is a very fast growing cloud based operating system that many are now placing resources into and applications on.

It took a little bit of experimenting before I managed to figure out what that meant (I am still new to Android after my forced departure from my beloved Nokia Windows 10 phone - thanks Microsoft!).

On my Samsung Galaxy A52 I:-

  1. press the "3 vertical bar button" at the bottom left of the screen to show all the running apps as "mini screens"
  2. press and hold on each app "mini screen" that you want to close and flick it up to the top of the screen

Seems to work.

My Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 found and installed Trainz Sim 3. Try again or perhaps there is a lower limit cutoff for compatible hardware.

It may well be that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has the same processor as was used in Samsung's high end phones at one time. That would account for why is is showing up on the Play Store for that tablet and not others?????

Its all part of the wonderful world of Android, but who would have it any other way as every time you engage the OS, it is a whole new world of adventure.:udrool::hehe:

Unfortunately, none of these suggestions will work for me as the app takes over the screen completely and even the bottom bar disappears.

Hopefully the team can add an 'exit' option to the menu. Would that be too difficult?

Hi twarner, you do not state in the above post what brand or model of phone you are using. However, it would seem from what you state that the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen is not visible. That being the case try placing two fingers (index top and thumb bottom) on the screen and "PINCH" towards the middle. That may shrink the app towards the centre of the screen and allow the navigation bar to become visible.

if that does not do the trick then reading the phones manual may be the only terrible ghastly answer.:(

That said, there is on all phones a means of closing apps running in full screen mode without having to resort restarting the phone. Therefore, you could visit and post your problem on somewhere such as the AV (audio Visual) forum, or if your phone is a popular brand the makers own website and forum would be where the answer is to be found. :o

Actually, I did, see post 20.

All the replies I get refer to going through 'settings' which. of course I can't access. No amount of pinching and/or swiping works.

Thanks anyway

Hi again Terry. As a thought, you could try going into settings before you launch any app and look to see if "run in full screen mode" is set to on, and if it is turn it off.

other than that, turn off auto resolution and try running in a lower or higher resolution and see if that shrinks the app to enable the navigation bar to be visible.

Problem is, all the various manufacturers fit the Android OS around their build of phone so nothing is ever quite the same on any two device brands. With the Google Android operating system becoming such a huge market now, ever more manufacturers are building devices for that market and there stands the problem with success.

After several years with various Huewei phones my P30 Pro is coming up for replacement and I obviously cannot go with the P40 due to it having no Play Store. So i will have to go with a different brand, and that i am not looking forward to, as many things will be very different. :o

Terry - Mobile OS works quite differently to PC. There are actually no "exit buttons" in Androids apps. Your operating system has a set of gestures to minimize or "background" the app. The OS also works out whether to reload the game or not.
Usually you swipe slowly from the edge of the screen and some other button options will appear.
Just google "How do I background an app on <your device name>"

Does anybody know the meaning of all abbreviations on the screen in realistic mode? I don't see any description of them. What I managed identify is:
CO - coal (but what is this? The quantity of coal in the fireplace??)
WA - water
BP - boiler pressure
EQ - equalizing reservoir
MR - main reservoir
BC - break cylinder
TP - train pipe
What I don't know is CS and SC
When driving a steam engine in realistic mode, one the boiler pressure is too low I can't find a way to make it higher. Normally with train stopped and regulator closed the steam pressure should go higher but it is not. Do you have an idea why?

when will surveyor tools be added to trainz simulator 3

When well the surveyor 2.0 be added to Trainz simulator 3

Please add surveyor tools 2.0 on Trainz simulator 3

We still haven't got a date for adding the world building tools. Other projects are taking longer than expected, so the schedule keeps getting pushed out. I can say it won't be this year, but hopefully we'll have in done by this time next year.

The lack of surveyor tools in Trainz 3 is the main reason I have not migrated from Trainz 2. I have Trainz 3 on my system (iPad) but it sits idle. The graphics are great but without the ability to modify, fix, and build the layout Trainz 3 is severely lacking. At this point I am having much more fun with Trainz 2. Not only have I built an intricate and massive custom layout but the AI in Trainz 2 is much better than in Trainz 3.

I used to be able to play trainz 3 on my previous phone (a TCL) but now I have a Samsung Galaxy and the game keeps crashing on startup and will never get to the game. This has happened since I first downloaded the game on my galaxy. Any ideas what is causing this?
