Trainz should NOT lag on my PC.

The issue was about 6 or 7 years ago, and being burned at the time meant losing some hard to earn cash. The issue was enough to cause BSODs and lock-ups with the program.

Today they seemed to have fixed the issue so I went back to ATI, but I'm no longer in that side of the business anymore either, so it doesn't matter.

Actually John I had OpenGL problems with my ATI 5870 just a few months ago with one of the Catalyst driver revisions. As I said before OpenGL support in AMD/ATI's drivers has been hit or miss like a lot of other things with AMD lately.

We won't even get into the transparency texture shimmer problem that plagues ATI and games that use older game engines.

I have all the games you mentioned except company of heroes. On topic: you may want to experiment with directx/opengl and different graphics settings.

Respectfully if I may...
My baby i5 760 is easily +one year old now. 64bit with only 6 gb of ram.
Currently running an ATI Radeon 5750 1gb card.
I replicated this system some 8 months ago for a friend and it cost 1400 AUD with 21" monitor and surround sound system at close to wholesale prices.
What I am saying is 1000 AUD is not a lot of money to be spending on a Trains rig.
You have the power of 64 bit, maxxxxx that ram out!
And capable vid cards are cheap as chips these days. Mine was 140 AUD.

Trainz lags to an extent on everyones pc. Why, because n3v/auran's game engine wasn't updated since 09. Look at Crysis 2 with the crytek 3 engine. The WHOLE map is speedtrees and it runs smooth as glass.

Yea, they need to fix their engine, pronto
