today I had to reenter my trainz serial numbers and my dlc numbers but trainz said the numbers were invalid can some tell me what is going on here?

Hi Constar,

See if this helps...

Ensure that you are using zeros for zeros and not an oh.

Ensure you are putting in the dashes.

If you purchased the program original from N3V before Simulator Central, you can access your registered programs in your Planet Auran account. What I have done in the past is to highlight and copy the serial number [Press Ctrl+C] from there and pasted [Press Ctrl+V] it into the cd-key field when prompted. This not only ensures that I am typing it correctly but it also saves time. If you are copying the password, however, ensure that you don't pick up an extra space on the ends.

Hi, I just installed Trainz 12 that I bought from Simulator Central last weekend and I am having problems with my serial number. When I installed Trainz and entered the serial number I was emailed it worked and I comleted the installation. But when I tried to launch Trainz itself it said that I have not entered a valid product key. I tried entering my serial number several times, ensuing that all my letters were in capital and that I had dashes but it did not work. Are the serial number and product number different? Please help! I would really appreciate it - I am looking forward to getting back into Trainz after a long period away and this problem is driving me up the wall.

Welcome to the forums and to Trainz!

Run Trainz as Administrator if using Windows Vista (yuck) and higher. Right-click on the short-cut and choose run as Administrator. Click on Yes to proceed. This can be set to a permanent option by clicking on properties and choosing Compatibility tab, and then checking the Run as Administrator option at the bottom of the program screen.

Click on Options at the Trainz launcher screen.
I suggest copying and pasting the serial number into the form, and click add. This will ensure that all the characters are correct. Just ensure that you have not copied any extra spaces before or after the text.

You also need to add your serial number (register your software) on your Planet Auran profile. Choose the product, and paste the same serial number in the serial number box.

If you have additional problems, please contact the helpdesk via the button on the top of the forums.

Hi, I just tried what you suggested and it did not work. I registered the serial number on Planet Auran which accepted it fine. But when I clicked on options and tried entering the serial number again I got the same message saying I had not entered a valid product key.

Have you tried copying and pasting the serial into the Trainz Options box? It may be that you are entering commonly confused characters incorrectly.

I downloaded all the .bin files from simulator central and the other file which I had to add an .exe extension to. I clicked that and just followed the instructions in the installer. I honestly cannot remember about choosing between components. When it was installing the files I did get a few messages saying some files were corrupted and could not be extracted. Something like builtin/12b and builtin/12c all the way up to 12e. But when I clicked ignore on these it carried on and said trainz was successfully installed. I double clicked on the desktop icon and got to the menu screen with the options start, options, cintent etc. But I click start and it says that I have not entered a valid product key.

That's the problem. You should never continue an installation if it says there are corrupt files.

You now need to uninstall and do a complete re-download and reinstall of the affected files.

Thats a bummer. Oh well can't be helped I guess. Its just that it takes forever to download the files they somehow get stuck on really slow download rates for some reason. And somehow even though my connection is fine, not all the file is downloaded. Which is frustrating.

I should also mention that I am pausing the download and closing my laptop lid, putting it on standby. This won't affect the download will it?
