Right on target .... Let's hope that the community Trainz finally turn its attention to the quality of models for the game......

There are members of the Trainz community concerned about the quality of models for this game. Often, however, the inherent provincialism of Trainzers prevents them from looking beyond their own backyard. Congratulations to all of the winners. There are some excellent screenshots in that bunch. :)

Cheers,
Fred

Some very high quality shots chosen, great detail and crisp clear graphics, almost as if they were taken by camera.
Well done to the winners and non winners.

...my backyard...

 Riding in a caboose is everyone's dream at one time or another...

Riding through Kentucky in the morning, in a borrowed caboose...priceless...:hehe:

Congratulations to all winners :)I do not want to offend anyone but hert and skidmark22, most of the screenshots from USA and UK look very...i dont know...childish, compared to the winning ones where you can see lots of complex details and most important, something that nobody noticed, there is only one, maybe two winning photos that have used built-in content ! And i think this says a lot :)

I am glad to find out that my shots are childish. That is why I removed most of them from this thread and this forum. I am also glad to learn that to be accepted in this forum and to win in this contest, you have to be a content creator. If I had known that before hand, I would never have entered any shots or even bought TRS 2009 or TRS 2010. Oh well, I will just make myself scarce and learn to make content and when I do, good luck on finding it anywhere in this forum. Go get it from the East.

I could really care less about winning in the contest. I am not into european trainz anymore anyhow but to be told that your shots are childish and to learn that you are not accepted in this forum because you don't yet make content is what is chasing me away. I will never download anything else, either freeware or payware from any content creator in this forum. I will make it myself or do without and I will keep my childish screen shots on my own computer. Goodbye!

Hi everyone,

After reading the following posts, I have...mixed emotions. Okhiu, that is a very brazen statement (I highlighted it in bold) to write, as that is entirely inaccurate. Why would you even think to post something like that in a universal competition? Oh, hang on a second...you weren't thinking. I don't insult Romainians because they are inferior when it comes to speaking English, so what gives you the right to insult screenshots US/UK guys submitted? Some of our guys who post here regularly (such as Joe, Andy, and Casper) blow us all away with their incredible work, and even the ones that don't post here as a sort of fun thing to try to learn to become better and how to improve their screenshots, as they are not as experienced with Trainz. Think twice before you post such a statement.

Moving on...

Skidmark,
I really wish you didn't remove all of your work, as there are many people here, including me, who enjoy gazing at your shots. Your route Sogo Docks is one of the most detailed routes I've ever downloaded for Trainz, and in terms of angle and position (in screenshots you take), you are a master. As ELO sang in 1979, don't let anyone bring you down; you're better than you think. The same goes for you JRT, I admire your rustic shots that you often post here.

I know I'm going to get slammed by the mods for this post, and I sincerely apologize, as I am usually good about keeping my posts in-check with guidelines, but I'm sorry...I just hate obnoxious people.

Where did you get those EL loco's?

all good screens from this thread have been already posted at http://ts2010.com/screenshots.php. Really, screens like this http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/9757/trainz2010112712591768.jpg pull trainz on the bottom in comparison with RailWorks, aren't they?

Totally agree with you!
Want to Trainz whole world was on the summit!

Friends! And why be offended? Because each of us fans are not only railway of his native region, as well as part of something else. That's like me like American roads with diesel traction, and Czech =)
No need to take in all the bayonets. It's the same game ....

;)

Great shots, but the competition over a week ago!

Carfreak4

Very good statement

Except 1 thing
Andy (Dermmy) isn't that great at the shots, it's the routes he makes
:hehe:

I am sorry that i have created such a confusion. I didn't intended to say that skidmark's photos are childish. I was adressing to skidmark and hert who were intrigued in previous posts by the fact that most of the winning photos are from Eastern Europe and Russia. They posted here, before i did, right here

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?p=713419#post713419

so i was adressing to them, i never said that their photos are childish. And when i said "most of UK/USA photos" i never meant all photos !!! I appreciate a lot of UK/USA creators who take care of all details, use HQ content and know how to create reality! And after all, i don't understand why am i not allowed to post a personal thought about this contest. :)

Great Work!

Hi Rokky Metal,

Firstly, let me say that your work is fantastic! I really like the detail you've gone into with a lot of these shots. Can I ask, where did you find a lot of your content from? I don't know of many third party creators who specialise in Russian content, and there isn't that much on the DLS either.

I'm particularly interested in the smaller details like the signalling, catenary and telephone poles... its great to see items that aren't built-in content. I see so many good shots from other creators until I spot the built-in content included. We have to move with the times I think, its not 2004 anymore!

So far, I have built Routes in TRS2009 for Switzerland, UK and Germany, and in TRS2010 I've recreated the D&RGW as well as the Tehachapi Loop. After seeing so many great Russian screenshots throughout the competition, I've been motivated to start a Russian Route Map myself, but alas, there are just no sites and content I know of to be able to do something like what you have been able to do, and do it so well!

Also, is there a way to translate any Russian Sites into English? My Russian is terrible!

Once again, great work on all your Trainz creations!

Cheers

Rik

yes, using the google translator.

the content was created during long 9 years of trainz existence. For example, 2TE116 is own work of Rokky Metal, first version was released in 2009, and the second on 31.12.2010 .

details like the signalling, catenary
It's only aspiration for realism, nothing more :). And competition with MSTS team, that is greater and older.

there are just no sites and content I know of to be able to do something
The most part of objects are in packs for maps. The realistic catenary can be founded here.
