Trainz sale on Amazon .

I would definetely avoid the TS2010 download version, as I know it has patching issues.

Not sure about the others, though.

A few folks have said that the TS12 version being sold is the Steam version, so it should be avoided.

Either way, buying from Amazon is probably not a good idea as Amazon requires you to download and use a utility called AmazonGSDownloader and goes out of their way to avoid telling you why it is needed or what it does. in fact, there is no official acknowledgement of what it does, why it's needed, etc. on Amazon's site or elsewhere.

If it served a legitimate purpose, they'd be more forthcoming about this program, what it does, and why you are required to download and install it. There is a reason why they're being so evasive.

I looked at the Murchison 2 on Amazon and it says it for XP and Vista only. As far as Steam versions, I don't want that stuff anywhere on my PC.. I will stick with getting stuff from here.

With Amazon you have no way of knowing until you purchase and download it, items are not always as advertised, box pictures may be of a different publisher to the actual copy of the software supplied, serial numbers may or may not be genuine and may or may not have been already used. Items may be pre used and repackaged to appear new. Just because Fred bought a copy yesterday and it was fine doesn't mean that the next copy sold is an OK genuine copy. Effectively Amazon is just as risky as purchasing off of eBay.
In conclusion, you may get a bargain you may not, the risk is yours.

I just purchased Murchison 2 on Amazon and downloaded it and installed. Ran beautifully. Did not require Steam. It did add a start icon on my desktop that move you to the route where you can start a session. So now I have two ways to start RS12.

I am running Win7 and have no problems.

There is a stand alone version, which is what you apparently have, and the add on version for Trainz where you can use the surveyor. This program was also updated recently, so you many not have the latest version since it is specked for Windows XP and Vista.

If you have the Trainz Newsletter, mines just appeared, they are doing a 50% off TS12 for Australia's Fathers day.

Wow almost the exact same posts from last year when Amazon did this. I bought both Trainz12 and Murchison 2 at that time. Absolutely 100% authentic program. Not Steam version. Mine has updated properly and runs without any flaws. Murch asked at install if i wanted to install stand alone or as part of TS12.

Is Murchison 2 or Settle & Carlisle worth for Trainz 12 ?

I bought it way back for TRS2006 and had to download a lot form SirGibby's site to get it to run correctly. I have just purchased TS12 and was thinking about loading it up again and then Amazon had it for $5.00US and I thought for the price I will give it a try. I downloaded it and installed and there it is all in one download. It works great and is just beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone no matter where you get it from. That's my 2cent (or $5.00) on the subject.

Which one ?

Be careful, I think that version is for windows XP and Vista only.

If it works in Vista it will work in Win7, which didn't exist when Murchison was released so it wouldn't be on the specs, in fact some older programs that didn't work very well in Vista do in Win7.
