Trainz Plus Gold

This thread has devolved into the equivalent of your wife asking you if this dress make me look fat. There is no answer that will make everyone happy.

Yet, the post does raise a valid concern. DLC should still be purchasable, even if the dlc is included and/or exclusive to a subscription. What's the point of allowing any dlc to be purchasable if you make some dlc exclusive to a subscription?

Anything from a subscription is never free, and Trainz Plus is no different. If you have to pay money monthly/yearly to access dlc, it's not free because you're paying for it. It's just an illusion that you're provided in the hopes that you're actually dumb enough to be convinced that paying an amount of money monthly/yearly to access something is free when it most certainly isn't.
You are correct in that analysis. If my memory serves me this conversation was started (or helped along) by an incorrect user post that used the word "free" when referring to Gold Class perks. A search of the Trainz Store page that covers Trainz Plus and Gold Class revealed that the word was never used.

But your point, in general, is valid.

And, as I posted previously, I see nothing wrong with that. The exclusive DLC becomes another selling point for the subscription. This is a common practice with businesses in all areas. As I have posted before, the clubs where I am a (subscription) member have special offers (the equivalent of DLC products) that are only available (for purchase or at no extra cost) to members and that is a selling point for becoming a member. N3V had an offer a while back that if you renewed your annual subscription within a year then you could download and install TRS22PE for nothing and continue to use it even if later you discontinued your subscription.

I understand where you are coming from and why you think that this is a bad business decision, partly because you are locked out of buying the exclusive DLC items. But if they were available for purchase by anyone who owns TRS22 then they would not be "exclusive". And that is the whole point.
