Trainz Keep's Crashing

I am going to try opening the ones for edit, and commiting them. IF That doesn't work, I will sadly reinstall trainz for the fourth time this week.

This is sounds like a plan. Let us know when you're done attempting the fix and whether it worked.

May I suggest that you also enable the show database console windows? This is located on the developer's tab in the options screen when you first launch Trainz.

What might be happening is you're shutting down your computer too fast before Trainz has had a chance to clean-up it's files and close the database. By watching the little windows open on your taskbar, you'll know it's safe to shutdown your computer when the little windows disappear.

This may solve your problem once and for all. :)

what happens is I move my consist, or try to, and everything freezes and nothing works, so I have to shut down

I do not have in my options what you told me to enable
still opening everything for edit.

By the sounds of things, you are opening built-ins for edit as well. Built-in content should not be opened for edit unless you have a very good reason for doing so.

Follow my tutorial and it should sort things out for you. As for the faulty content, did you do as I suggested earlier?

Shane

I went through about a third of the content that was faulty, and I am only opening non built in content
I have a lot of stuff in triainz
it still is opening it

now on to committing the assets. I hope that this solves it, however if it doesn't does anyone have any suggestions for me?

so you're telling me the faulty assets are causing my game to crash every time?

Yup. The database and possibly the assets have become corrupted. This can happen to any program, including Windows, if you shutdown your computer the hard instead of using the shutdown for the program and Windows separately.

John

Normally yes, but be aware that any assets that depend on these will then not function correctly. It is better to fix the errors if you are able to.

Shane

680 broken assets will crash any computer. Remember, it is not just your engines and rolling stock, but the assets your routes use plus their dependencies and sub dependencies. I can promise you, that if you can get down to "ZERO" errors TS12 will run like hot butter. Whenever I download something, either freeware from the DLS or payware, I immediately check for and repair any and all errors. If I get it down to just warnings it stays in my database. If not, it gets deleted or disabled for fixing later.

"Combality" mode does not fix the errors or make them go away - it just lets the error checking ignore them. The errors are still there slowing the whole thing down the bad one's crashing the game to your desk top.

but would the faulty assets cause the problem even WITH Combality mode?

Yes because they are faulty, it doesn't make faulty assets ok.
All it does is let assets work/show in trainz that native mode will not, but they arn't faulty, just minor details.
If you can't correct them you may as well delete them, and re download them.

down to the final assets to be committed. Afterwards I will go back and fix all faulty assets if I can of not I will check their dpeandance and see if I can't fix it. If I go back and fix all these and Trainz still crashes, what do I do?
