Trainz Collection, Trainz Classics 3 and other questions.

These questions might not be very related, but I thought I'd ask them before I forgot anyway.

I've kinda had it with 06, crashes and undo bugs and floating boxes as road vehicles without headlights at night. I was thinking of buying Trainz Classics 2, but since TC3 is about to come out soon, and I've been hearing some stuff on Trainz Collection and Trainz Railroads.

Does anyone have the heads up on which is the best in terms of backward compatibility (able to use with 06, 04 content etc), graphical, stability and built-in content (I heard NH line in TC was horrible) comparing Trainz Classics 3, Trainz Railways and Trainz Collection?

Next, I like driving steam locomotives, but after going through the pdf manual in 06 again today, it left me wondering if some of the things it mentioned such as cylinder cocks, condenstation in the cylinders, blowers and the small little details actually affect the efficient running of a steam locomotive?

Regarding the Trainz forums, I am very contented the way it is now, and the great community using it. However, I can't help but to notice some users' signatures and special headings (such as mine which reads "Trainz Veteran" how'd you change that?) I appreciate the witty signatures and cool webpage links, and very often they make my day.

I also realize that my account is pretty limited, and as far as I am aware, I cannot post or reply in any of the Screenshots and Freeware Announcements threads. Sometimes the forums throws up an access denied page when I click a link from some post. Do I need to subscribe to something or is it that I am still too new to the forums?

Thanks in advance people. :)

I too would like to change my "Trainz Veteran" status. I'm sure this is based on the number of times I have posted, and most of my posts have been questions, some rather silly!

Adding another question to the above list: if I have a very long mainline (perhaps 500 kilometers or more), how do I know at which intervals to place signals? I wouldn't have to worry about passing loops, as this is a double-tracked mainline, but I would still like my signal blocks to be of roughy equal lengths.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Click on User CP, top left hand corner, select 'Edit Profile' and you will see your current "Trainz Veteran' name on the page. Just enter an alternative below it and your question is answered. As far as I am aware, what is displayed there has no relevance to post counts. only to each persons ego.

Cheers

By the looks of things TC3 will offer a large number of the things many of us have been waiting for, so it might be best to try that when it comes out, and import your TRS06 content into it.

Thanks all for your replies, I'm adding another question: doeas anyone know of a turntable or roundhouse that is long enough to accomodate a Big Boy or at least a Challenger? I've resorted to building wyes, although I think a turntable would be more prototypical. Imagine driving a Big Boy into a loco facility and you realize you have no means of turning around!

EDIT---
Sorry, here's another question. I've come across threads which mention a program which can change the type of track used in routes. I'm currently using "brown wood stain std 02m" but I realized that it doesn't reflect the locomotive's headlights! Does anyone know of such a program. I will willingly pay if this means saving me rebuilding my entire line (has anyone done this before? =p)

Talk about locomotives, I'm wondering why most of my locomotive's headlights do not have any reflection on the ground or track or whatsoeer, making driving at night (which I like), quite unpleasant. Has anyone a recommendation of a locomotive, regardless diesel, electric or steam, (self-made, on DLS or third party site etc) which has a good "cozy" ambience. I would most probably spend hours sitting in it enjoying the stars. =D

Thanks, Nicholas.
