Does anyone know if the boxed standard version of Trainz 2012 will be available in U.S.A. retail stores (like Best Buy)?

Only N3V can answer that.

No one here has been informed by N3V regarding the marketing/distribution plan for TS12.

Have fun,

Hello neighbor!

It's been my experience that Trainz does show up in some retail stores, but not for a while after the preorder CD/DVDs from N3V have shipped to their customers. If I recall either TS9 or TS10 took almost half a year for it to show up over here, and even still most retail stores here didn't stock it in the shop, but could order it for you.

I would suggest just buying the CD/DVD from Auran (I also advise getting an FCT, if you don't have one... but thats besides the point). As you are directly supporting our favorite little game company, as well as having the ability to get it way before the retailers see it.

Planning on getting TS12 verry soon and have a question, has anyone ever had any problems with things from Auran passing through customs and what not?

I've purchased all of my Trainz needs direct from Auran for years, never had any issues. I highly recommend purchase from Auran direct. (It's good for them too!)

I've never had any customs issues, but it takes (at least it did in the past) about a month to make it from there to here. Part of that is likely customs, it may also have to go through the local distributor.

With the exception of one of my 2004 copies, I've always bought direct from Auran. Shortest time: 12 days; longest time: three weeks. Be aware though that if you pay by bankcard, you'll probably take a hit of 1% to 3% of the transaction as a "tax" for converting your money to AU Dollars.

Just received an online newsletter fron "Just Flight / Just Trains" here in the UK and in it they announce that they will soon be publishing Railway Simulator which is due out in the UK in May. It's referred to as a "stand-alone train sim is powered by the Trainz 12 software engine and has been developed by N3V to provide the ultimate railway experience", so I can only assume that it's Trainz 2012 by another name.

The article also stated that it's due to be published in the US in June, as Railroad Simulator (yet another name).

Regards, Paul
