I am trying to patch 42763 to 44088 This patch file is not applicable to your current installation version. No valid patch operation was specified. Patching aborted.

Hi there, and welcome to Trainz!

Could you open the Trainz Launcher, and check the number on the bottom-right? That's your current build number. You may be using the wrong patch.

I do see the 42763 patch on this page. Make sure that's the one you're using if that's your current build number. :)

Also some advice for you: When you get to build 44088, there are two paths to go down. The first is to 49933 and the second is to build 49938. The second one is actually the latest patch for the Multiplayer Beta in TS2010, and as such does not include Compatibility Mode. I recommend going to 49933 instead of 49938.

I hope this helps.

Kieran.

If you do indeed have the correct patch, check that it's patching the right folder - the folder it's attempting to patch will appear at the top of the patcher window. If it's wrong, click the .. button, locate the correct Trainz folder, then select the trainz.exe file in that folder.

Should he patch all the hotfix's and progerssively building up patch's, all the way to the top of the patch list ... this is what totally confuses me about the Patch Page !

N3V's patch page can be confusing at times, although the general way I see it is to patch (at least for TS2010 and lower) using the patch that takes you from your current build number up to either 41844 (TS2009) or 44088 (TS2010), then install the 41844 to 44653 (TS2009) or 44088 to 49933 (TS2010 non-Multiplayer Beta) patch. For TS12 it's best to do the patches in order starting with your current build number then follow the pattern.

Hi.

I am now on build 49933 and I'm thinking about patching it further.
I have some questions in regards of that.
Can I use the 46170 -> 49938 patch?
Will that patch break compatibility?
Can I use some TS12 addons? I'm specifically thinking about these.

Hi there,

49933 is the highest 'standard' build TS2010 will go to.

49938 is the Multiplayer Beta build. To use this, and sacrifice Compatibility Mode, you must install a second copy of TS2010 and patch it to 44088, then 46170, then 49938.

Some TS12 content can be backdated. For most assets this is simply done by changing the build-number to 3.3 but some assets require a bit more work, such as ones with TS2-only tags in the config file.

An important note regarding TS12 content. Routes and sessions cannot be backdated easily (if at all), especially if it's TS12 SP1 content, due to changes in the structure.
