Trainz 2010 : Out of date files.

Hi,

Trainz 2010 newb person here. I've had a search throught the forums but couldn't find an answer to this.

Just recently installed Trainz 2010 EE (download) and the Content Manager is showing over 12000 files as out of date. Is this normal as the product has not long been released?

If it is normal, is it beneficial to keep these files up to date, or only if I have any issues with specific content?

Thanks.

The assets involved are not made by Auran, but by regular users like us and the items apparently got updated sometime after they were added to TS2010. Since they were likely added to TS2010 months ago, that's not as odd as it seems. :)

I think you will find that each out-of-date asset is accompanied by another asset with a similar but incremented kuid number. This means the asset in question was updated. I only see both if I select show "All" . When the "Installed" filter is active, only the latest is shown, meaning both are on the DLS but only one is installed on my computer. People with previous versions might not be able to use the newer version so it is good to continue to make the previous version available.

Thanks for that. So what I'm actually seeing when I open the default 'Out of date' tab are assets that are on the DLS, not the ones installed on my machine?

If I change the search to 'Built-in' + 'Out of date' the I get a list of none, so that should really be the default - for those like myself who are new to this version.

I've forgotten what the default search is because CM3.2 remembers the last search criteria and uses it when it opens again. "Installed" will show you only what you have locally.

Have fun

I get 12 built-in items that are out of date on mine and I think there used to be more.

Just as an experiment, and because I only installed it 2 days ago so don't have any additional content to lose, I did a removal and re-installation.

So from the download install, then patched up to build 41615 the Content manager shows 13372 items when you select the Out of Date tab. When you change the search filter to Location : Local + Out of date : True you get 22 items - which seems a more realistic.

These 22 items also show up in-game as available content at the main menu - so again that seems to be correct.

Thanks for the assistance chaps. :)
