Trainz 2009 or Trainz X?

wridenour

There goes a...train!
I'm hearing about this new trs2009 and I'm considering getting it when it comes out, but I'm also hearing about the new trs X coming out shortly after that. Should I go ahead and get trs2009 and then get trsX when it comes out, or should I skip on trs2009 and just get trsX?:)

Thanks!

Treat yourself, get all three................. TS2009 World Builder Edition, TS2009 Engineers Edition and TRS X. :D

Sounds good to me.:D

It's really up to you, but I'm not sure that TRS-X is coming out "shortly". As far as I know, there's been no release date set in stone just yet and considering work isn't even finished on 2009, I wouldn't hold my breath for it just yet.

Hello

TRS X is a working title, do not expect it be out too soon yet, you never know Tony might rename it in the future.

Go for TS2009WBE.

The only thing I can say is that I hope that TRS X will see the light to a new and improved graphic engine.

Existing users of Trainz or those that want to use older routes that aren't shipped 'in the box' or modify existing routes to the new TS2009 terrain standards TS2009 WBE is your best bet.

Due to their being limited new content (takes advantage of the new graphics capabilities) in WBE some users may wish to wait another 2 or so months and grab TS2009 EE instead as this will ship with mostely new high end content. EE won't feature Surveyor so if you want the 'best of both worlds' you'll need both releases. At around $30-$40 each it still makes it only $80.00 in total which is on par with most major releases these days.

Regarding TSX (working title) this is still a year away from release and it will hopefully be the beginning of Trainz releases that don't ship with all the old legacy content.

Personally I'm buying TS09 WBE and EE so I can bring any older routes upto Trainz V2.9 standard by progressively replacing all the old assets with new ones as they're made available over the coming months. So when TSX is released my updated routes should'nt have any old content in them thus loading fine in TSX.

Steve.

Hello

Plus also when you buy TS2009WBE, once TEE is released Engineers Edition (TEE) is an "expand-alone". If you have WBE installed, TEE will install on top so then you get all the WBE features plus the new EE features and EE content. If you don't have WBE then EE is a standalone version of Trainz that doesn't include the Surveyor module.
