Trainz 2009 New Features

It would be nice to have the option of physical disk or download.

John

I could have sworn that the announcement said that both types would be available after a while.

Now isn't that a daisy? I can't find the bit where Tony clarifies the subject!

Your with the wrong ISP Vern.

I am on Pipex 8mb BB, unlimited.

No-one should even think about using an ISP in the UK that restricts download amounts these days.

There are too many choices of those that are unlimited.

IKB.

I think Vern is right,I'm with Blueyonder (virgin) since 2000,Iv'e got a 2 meg line, full TV package (only 1 Hi def channel)and a virgin landline, with no capping or restrictions on how much I download, hehe 25 gig last month.

It was just a few days ago Sky reps were knocking at the door asking me to change and go over to them,I changed my TV package to go with them because they can offer me something like 15 Hi Def channels, compared to just the one from Virgin, but they could not beat the broadband,I was told with SKY you are capped with a monthly download limit, asked what happens if I go over that limit, replied you will probably get a letter telling you that youv'e done so,cheers Vern, didnt know that you had to pay 60p extra per gig, that is something they didn't tell me.

Ive stuck with virgin for the minute, and enjoy no limit on how much I download, but enjoying the 15 Hi Def channels at the same time.

Just out of interest how much is that PIPEX 8Mb unlimited per month, and is it available in Newcastle?

Re ISP/BB

Sorry if I continue this rather off-thread subject:

I am using ADSL24 (part of Entanet). http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ is a site that has much info.

Just changed over from Sky TV to Virgin Media. Missed the cricket and rugby during setup :'(:'(

Is this what you are looking for...:hehe:

To deliver TS2009 into everyone's hands as soon as possible so they can start upgrading their routes with new content, it will only be available to order online in either Digital Download or DVD versions. We are aiming for a November 2008 release to allow time for delivery prior to Christmas (expected price $29.99).

Thank you! See, I knew it would be in a DVD version!:p

On both their cable tv and phone line connection systems Virgin reduce the speed for users who download very large amounts of data. See http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/legal/oncable/terms.html clause B4i. They still offer a very reasonable overall deal though.

John

I am informed that they (Virgin), monitor the traffic between the hours of 16.00 and 21.00. Those who download greater than 3GB during that period will have their speed reduced, which means those (me), on 20Mb, will have the speed reduced to 4Mb for a total period of 5 hours, after which, it is reset back upto 20Mb.

I assum that those who have a lower speed will have it reduced accordingly.

I cannot find the specific details where that information comes from, but i believe it to be true.

Regards Barry

Yes, I think that's right (or very nearly so). I've also seen mentions of only evening usage being tracked. I think they claim the speed reduction is only applied to a small proportion of users, something like 5%. Probably a better system than charging extra for going over the limit. Googling virgin media traffic shaping will list more sources of information but some may be historical, or unreliable rumours.

If i have any large downloads to make, i usually do them overnight anyway because their's usually less UK traffic at that time.

I go through periods of downloading large amounts (well over 3GB, sometimes upto 10GB), per session and have (fingers crossed), never had any contact with Virgin concerning excessive usage.

I'm a nightowl, so I do things late at nite too, but unfortunately it's allways "high noon" somewhere else in the world :hehe:

Theres that horrible word again UPGRADE,were all going to have to upgrade sometime or another, better graphics/lighting,longer draw distances all adds to the load on GPU/CPU,it won't be half as bad as whats going to be needed for MSTS 2,I would agree an early indication of system req would be welcome.

Have allready UPGRADED!:D

Ready, Willing and able to run TS2009:hehe: (soon)tm
