Trainz 2006 Installation Problems

Trying to install Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006 on my home pc which is a Dell 4500 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 with 768 MB of RAM and running Windows XP Home.

I'm receiving the following error message when trying to read the dvd:

Disk is not formatted

Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows.

I've tried to read the dvd on 2 separate pc's.

Thanks,

Did you check if your PCs are DVD compatible? Look on the disk drive, it will show a DVD logo it is compatible.

Did you check the back of the DVD? It might have got scratched during shipping. If it is, I suggest you get the CD version. The DVD has been known to have problems.

Have you tried installing it on another comp that has a DVD drive to see if it's the drive itself that isn't working?

Also we do have a TRS2006 Support forum for these kinds of issues.

I've had similar problems with DVDs.

Try cleaning the DVD with a cleaning kit (i.e. soft wiper and cleaning solution). It seems that the surface can be easily affected be fingerprints, dirt etc - just enough so that the reader can't read the file information.
