Hi,

I have a 13" Macbook Pro, mid 2012. It has a Intel HD Graphics with an ivy bridge CPU.

I was wondering if Trainz Simulator 12 will run well on this? I don't want to spend $39 and then find out the game doesn't play (low fps etc)

Unless you are running a Windows emulation program, Trainz TS12 will NOT play on a MAC at all. It is for PC/Windows systems.
--What you want is Trainz for MAC, or wait a bit for Trainz for MAC2...or like I said, run a Windows emulator on your MAC...others have had good luck...do a search.

I forgot to mention that i also have Windows 8.1 running in bootcamp as well as a windows VM running in parallels.

The problem will be the graphics because of the Intel integrated graphics chip. Trainz TS12 needs a discrete graphics card such as an NVidia or ATI (AMD) card. Some newer laptops have this graphics capability built-in, however, yours does not.

You can try running the program using Open/GL with the settings moved down to an acceptable, but very degraded performance level.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news.

As others have said, your best bet is to go with the MAC version.

John

Integrated Graphics 3000 run Trainz 12 just fine on my laptop.
(Windows 7, 4G Ram, IntelHD3000)
