The one detail I am concerned with is why the backward compatible limit of TS2010.
I would have bought TS2010 at some point but when I first saw comments about 2012, figured I would wait for that one since 2010 was similar in a lot of ways to 2009 that I have and been creating for.
Plus if 2010 is the backward limit, what about all the DLS fixes that were done to Classics standards? Is Classics getting no support when 2012 comes out and all that work useless?

Currently that is my only concern.

Probably the best way to determine that is to see if the new Trainz Simulator 12 version rejects any content with a "trainz-build" value lower than those for TS2010.

It might likely just be a recommended backward-compatibility limit, in that it will be less likely that content for TS2010 will have errors/compatibility issues in TS12 than content for earlier versions of Trainz.

Not true. As said:

Such as:
- Will there be normal mapped water?
- Will there be normal mapped bulk loads?
- Will there be a moon?
- Will the be more changes to physics?
These and many more questions are NOT answered by the promotion.
